From today's Astronomy Picture of the Day. Picture is from Sigulda, Latvia:

What's interesting about this one, besides the ęstetic appeal, is that the physical phenomenon behind the fanning of the columns up top is yet unknown.

Lots of really, really solid work here. Very inspiring!

Here's a couple from my archives:

Thanks. Not a true HDR shot, it was made from a single jpg image and processed in photoshop. A couple of high pass filters and some sharpening.

^^^^^ = Very Nice! I'm thinking that you could have a field day in Photoshop with that...

Did you do much post to get to this point? What cam/lens/fstop/shutter?

Got a chance to jump out into the middle of one of our main downtown streets right after Santa and the holiday parade went past - sort of cool to get the chance to get a shot without cars.

Nice shot single, is that from a Holga?
Be careful about buying snowboard goggles for skiing. Snowboard goggles come in right eye and left eye (for goofy-footers) dominant models. This can make it hard to see correctly when skiing because you are facing straight down the hill, not sideways.

Thanks. No, it isnt a holga. It is my canon with a 5d with a 50mm 1.8 at night, then cross processed and color/levels adjusted. It looks different than my edit, because flickr flattens and desaturates a lot of my cross-processed photos for some reason. Only recently have I found that heavy processing can make a good image a lot better.

Not sure if this is up to the quality of this thread or not, but I'll toss it out anyway.

^^ Dude, it's the picture of the day - a place to post up a picture you want to share. Doesn't have to be some super-awesome-cool pro-photographer looking piece. Heck, look at my pictures... This is just a place to share whatever photo strikes your fancy on any given day.

Single - your shot of the alley with the homeless man is really powerful. Great shot.

Thanks noonan! I like the chain link, I never see pictures of that on black. Have you tried cropping out the right side of the frame where the links go away?

Jackbombay, I was looking at your photo with some friends trying to figure out what the hell was going on. That is ridiculous. The reflection is killer. What is he jumping off of/into? I just guessed he was in a parking lot at a park (judging by the baseball diamond) jumping into a puddle.
