Turns out the exchange student my family hosted in 1985/1986, and her husband own an old country Catholic church somewhere in rural southern Spain. It would have been impossible to take a bad picture in that place. 6D with $100 canon 24mm prime I bought used on Ebay. The history of how and why they own it is fascinating and needs a long form write up. So much more to this story but not really ready to share.

Went through some old scans and came across this beauty from 2002. I don't think I've been to San Francisco since. Time flies!

A few posts up I shared a couple of shots without context. Those were a quick couple of my son on the summit of Rose in Tahoe.

At just under 12 miles and 2400 feet of gain, it's not the biggest hike by a 7-year-old ever, but I'm damn proud. Mostly because of that mental wall you have to break through on a first legit summit.

Wow, that certainly puts the size of The Sun and Mercury into perspective. Especially when you consider Mercury is over 30 million miles away from the sun.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

I like using vintage lenses with my micro 4/3 camera and wanted to try out the "new" Canon FD 2x teleconverter I got off eBay a couple weeks ago. I combined it with my Canon FD 135mm f2.8 lens for 270mm (540mm equivalent). Even wide open I was getting about 1/100 sec exposures without going to a higher ISO than I'd like, which is probably marginal even with IS, but I got a couple decent shots. The main problem was really bad purple fringing especially in backlit shots. Shooting with manual focus lenses certainly gives you a new appreciation for what it was like in the "old days." Definitely not easy to get everything to work out! Anyway, this was shot near Fergie's Cafe in Brackendale, BC.

The next full moon will occur on December 12th at 12:12 AM ET, and is known as the Cold Moon or Long Nights Moon. This full moon is distinctive for its high trajectory across the sky, causing it to sit above the horizon for a longer period of time.

The Y2K scare had me sitting in an office to see if our computer systems would crash and waiting for planes to fall out of the sky. It was a hoot!

A decade is a ten year period, so you could argue that some decade ends at the end of every year. I'd say it makes sense to say the 2010s end at the end of this year.
