Teton Teepee open again, $19.00 a night.
I don't have info on whether the bar or restaurant are opening as well, but I do know they are offering bunks (dorm style) for $19.00, and private rooms for $79. They are pretty much the closest lodging to Targhee. More details to come, psyched to see this return to old school ski bummin' options. Any of you looking for an excuse to throw in a Targhee day or two into a road trip, this is a very, very fun and funky place to stay.

I have never had a night at the teepee that didn't end up with the police being called or me running from the police.
I really like the teepee

Does it still have the hot tub and the serve yourself bar?
-

I'll check in tomorrow...last I looked, the hottub was in severe disrepair. In the past, even the bunk options got you free PBR, all *night*. I don't know what the new model is, it is being run by Squeaks son, so it might be a little leaner and meaner in this economy. I'll try and get more details asap. It will have the rad fireplace, pool, poker tables, foosball, shuffleboard, internet, Sat. TV, etc, so for $19.00 (or $79.) that is a fair deal. I am not involved this year, I will report what I know soon. I would be way psyched if they got it up to full operations.

Whether the bar opens or not, it is the kinda place that basically would encourage y'all to brown bag a bunch of whisky, order pizzas, and rock out with the other guests. It is super-chill, I hope it continues with that vibe. I don't see why it wouldn't, the kid running it this go around is a third generation Melehes. Jaeger, BITCHES!!!

Technically, it's really, really close...but there is this little Mountain Range in the way.
It is 8 miles to Targhee, and ~40 miles to Jackson (town). I bet it's only 15 miles to the Village, though. (as the crow flies)Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

i'm staying in the actual town of jackson and i might be willing to extend my road trip and extra day or two to stay in this teepee, sounds like fun. any place where there's a bar where you serve yourself and then have a giant sleep over is my kind of place

The place is fucking HUGE. I doubt a reservation is even necessary if you don't mind the bunk room.

$19 a night makes me not care about the bunk room. Seems like it'd be cheaper to stay there and drive across the pass than it would be to stay in town. And its gotta be what, 30 seconds from Targhee!?

I wouldn't count on them (anyone there) being available on-line...it's an old school deal. Pick up the damn phone n' call, whippersnapper!
(And I doubt you would need a reservation, especially since they cancelled all of them last summer, not expecting to be open...)Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

I don't think there are any age restrictions. It's not that kind of place.
