    Binding Advice

need some advice from the collective. so i got a lot bindings laying around, and need some input as which you think is best for the sickiest sick sick big skis.

the choices all din 14s which is not bad cause i aint all rad:

    1. rossi fks - geze toe, yellow.....perfect condition, used maybe 2 days by some carver back in the day
    2. sally 997 - good condition
    3. sally 900S - good condition
    4. rossi axl2 ti - brand new, new heel style

so from what i gather, the rossi fks, and to some extent the axl2's, probably ski better on fat skis because they have more contact points for the toe and greater elasticity in the heel. the sally are good as well, but i blow out of the heels sometimes with sally's. and 997s are probably better than the 900S cause of the weight?
are the old fks better than the new axl2's? they're lighter which is usually good.

    thanks.

You already know you don't like Sallies. What's more burl? Metal race binding or plastic recreational binding? Go with the FKS.

^^^^Seconded...sort of. Go with the rossis. the 997s wouldn't be a bad choice either.

thnx skis, jon & njfs for the input.

the axl2's 140 i have are the pros, so not sure they're rec, but whatever

have any of you skied on both bindings?

what i see is the fks's are lower to ski than axls even with the riser removed from axls (which is good for big skis).
and the fks overall hole pattern is much more compact (3 w/float on toe vs. 4 on axls; on the heel, much tighter mount pattern all under the boot as opposed to the spreadout axls)... all of which lets the ski flex more naturally

.. maybe this is why they ski better, that and the more metal in toe thing.
