I think a lot of places are closed to today. Whitefish is basically closed (only a couple of the lower lifts are spinning), Schweitzer, Baker, Crystal are all closed, Hood was closed yesterday, partially open today.
I know Whitefish recorded 2.5" of water at the summit in the last ~24 hours. Some of that was (very) heavy snow. Some of it was rain. And now it's blowing at 50mph.
This winter sucks.

125mph gust recorded on mt sentinel. Point 6 station seems broken?
Lost trails post was a little more promising though

Well, the mountain was reset, the base is deeper, and bomb proof. Now we just need it buried.
It wasn't nearly as bad as I was thinking it might be. Super smooth chalky turns at the top of West Bowl.I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. -אלוהים אדירים

I'm actually considering going up there on a shit show Saturday. I have Sunday off, but the new snow will be hammered flat, and scorched by the dreaded orb in the sky by then.

How was it up there today? Dust on crust or is the subsurface carvable? Thinking of coming over Tuesday.

I skied the Bowl on MLK day. It was worth it...rain crust maybe halfway down Griz lift and all of Snowpark lift.
Upper Griz and upper bowls were good skiing. Bottom parts very challenging, but you could see most limited coverage areas in advance and miss them.
Could find a few good turns at Snowpark, but had to dance on top of, or try to punch thru the crust. What looked like a creamy 5" off run was not skied for a reason.
Parking was completely full, but not tightly packed together. Makes me wonder what a Saturday is like. I arrived a little past 10am and was 2/3 of the way back in the normal lot.
Overall, a good day. West Ridge, upper Griz were worth the pain in the ass at the bottom.
And no lift lines, at most a 3min wait.

If you get there at 10 on a Saturday you are going to have a long walk. Otherwise, once Snowpark opens, Saturdays are usually not that congested, though still significantly busier than Sundays. But Sundays are often the least busy day of the week, all other things being equal.

When they had the parking attendants I felt as though the parking was better-packed. Haven't seem them around this year yet.
Snowpark really has changed the dynamic of that mountain, especially once you get through the line at opening bell. Really gets spread out now, even on pow days. I love it.

Yeah, they used to be pretty militant about parking. They had guys with sticks and would try to get you to park within a stick-length of the car next to you. It's all gone to complete shit over the last few seasons though and the parking guys do nothing except direct trucks to the sides and smaller cars to the middle.

Good turns up there today in the bowls and very uncrowded. Skied with a couple Missoula friends...well worth the trip.

Fabric rip in my ski pants next to a seam. Approx 3"long, any recommendations on a place to get repaired? Bright blue pants so patching might not be the preferred solution.
