Anybody know why a search for Point Six RAWS says, 'The station ID PNTM8 does not exist in the database.'? Is the station just offline or is there somewhere else to access the weather data?

My best day of the season so far, new wet snow leached into the crusty leftovers, so it was soft and crunchy. There were no lift lines, and The Hoeman handed me a Kokane at the end of the day. Good times.

Damn it...I was just sure there'd be a wind problem today.

I need to quit second guessing the weather here and just ski. Been so long since I last lived here that I don't remember what the weather reporting was like. Just ski damn it...

the unit economics are better on a single lift ticket, but this is not where their money comes from. i've seen the books of a couple ski hills. it's not lift tickets. Now, maybe snowbowl is different. but it's a fact they they sell fewer single day lift tickets than LT or Lookout, which would imply they rely more heavily on food/bev, not less

Thinking of a quick Lost Trail trip later this next week. Do they still allow camping in the lot? Didn’t see anything on their website - would be just crashing in our van for a night. Thanks!

Yup, they do, SE corner, bring ear plugs as the kids living in the bus and the plow guy are both quite noisy. Bus kids from 9pm - midnight, and plow guy starts at 430am... at least that was the situation last week.

You can also camp at the Chief Joseph cross country skiing parking lot about 3/4 mile away at the top of Chief Joseph Pass. Probably quieter.

Going to Lost Trail today. Bright blue pants, green coat, testing the fattest Dynastars you've seen. Ask for change.

Haven't been there since college in the late 80s, I have no recollection of what to expect.

    WOOT WOOT! Nukin' in Missoula

We ended rallying out Weds night from Teton Valley to Lost Trail - camped at the Chief Joesph TH. Powder Thursday didn’t disappoint! Good cover and we lucked out with 6-8” of creamy delight

I saw Wyoming plates with a popup. You? I guessed it was a mag.

I was cold today...found a few good turns in chopped up leftovers. Groomers were nicely carveable

I need to get skiing again. Been stuck at home with a bad flair up of my arthritic thing. Spasmy. Anyhoo, word is that if we get any of this supposed storm then we should see Snowpark open soon. Maybe even Powder Thursday.

    Ugh, sitting at home sucks.
    No longer stuck.

Totally out there but I am headed for a couple of weeks in Missoula to visit a buddy. We had discussed my borrowing his truck for a few midweek days at Big Sky, then JH. But now the truck is having issues.
PM me if you are interested in a rental of your rig to me. Something I can sleep in, SUV truck or whatever. Not picky. Jan 23-feb4.
Shot in the dark, but doesn't hurt to ask. Sometimes.

Anybody go up today? Where was the snowline?

EDIT: Snotel is up to 1.1" of SWE and it has been 31 degrees at 7400 feet all fucking day. Gonna be some cream cheese mixed with rain tomorrow.

I think a lot of places are closed to today. Whitefish is basically closed (only a couple of the lower lifts are spinning), Schweitzer, Baker, Crystal are all closed, Hood was closed yesterday, partially open today.

I know Whitefish recorded 2.5" of water at the summit in the last ~24 hours. Some of that was (very) heavy snow. Some of it was rain. And now it's blowing at 50mph.

    This winter sucks.
