Hope storms stalling on the MT/ID border aren't the story this year, but here we go!

Tomorrow might be okay enough for me to try some local lift served terrain for the first time this season...

Post up how the conditions look. I'm rolling into town in 2 days. Should be skiing this weekend at the Bowl.

I got a core shot, so it must have been bad skiing up there.

The Bowl was surprisingly good today. Upper Grizzly skied really well. Upper mountain was foggy, but also has good snow. Even Chicken Chute was in better than normal conditions.

Had to quit early as my knees were hurting from the first day out. Made it easier top enjoy a few brews in the bar at the end. Realized that it was 30yrs ago this season that I worked my final season for the Bowl. Damn...I'm getting old.

Had a fun and busy xmas week in Missoula. Got some good skiing and lots of friends and family time.

Awesome full red moonrise over the Sapphire mtns on approach to MSO:

Got the 3 yr old up on the snowbowl bunny hill a few times, snow angel time on 12/23:

Powder day at the bowl on 12/24:

    12/26:
    "No inverted aerials":

Send it for the bros into patrol chute:

12/27, skinned up TV mtn from Butler Cr side. Very fun:

    Low angle cold smoke:

12/28 back at the bowl for skiing with the wife in the am and friends:

Have to pay for the powder hound these days...but do get a few comps :-):

12/29, back to TV mtn. So cool to put ski boot on in parents living room, get dropped at end of road a few minutes later, and go backcountry ski powder:

    Have a good winter!

    Nice.

That new lift looks way too fancy for the Bowl, no wonder they couldn't get it working.

Got the 4 y.o. up on Griz for the first time on 12/24. Getting there ever so slowly...

Nice photos 406, way to send the chute.
What the story on the Butler Creek skin? Looks like a good beginner skin? Dog friendly?
Just go up and around from the top of Spartan?
I guess I don't know that area at all.

Good work getting Root Jr out there! Snowbowl is tough for the little ones, rope tow is brutal...not sure how I ever took one. I wish someone would give the bowl a magic carpet, I would tow it up there from CA, CO, or UT if they comped some passes :-)

Stucky, yeah very easy skin. If you have a pass, saddle at top of spartan headwall has the typical boot pack and now a skin track. Check my strava for route from Butler Cr. The parking is on private property, but people seemed to be parking there. The runs are low angle, but more northern ones do hit the magic number and could slide, so still good to have backcountry and avi knowledge. Ski patrol has a slope shade & trail map for TV mtn in the warming hut at top of Westbowl.

I would not take that bet. From what I've heard they got reasonably close and it would take a colossal fuckup to not have it ready.

    On the other hand....it's Snowbowl.

Well, some seem to think it was a colossal fuckup that Pat dug out concrete which had already been poured for one of the tower foundations........
