Toast is stuck skiing at the most over-rated ski area in MT, so he takes out his frustration picking on the most under-rated one.

Meh. I'm stuck close to the canadian border, and driving to places that are actually good most weekends. If I start a thread about how awesome the skiing in whitefish is, feel free to call me out on my bullshit.

I've always kind of wondered why there isn't a NW Montana thread. Just a bunch of stokeless sad sacks living up there or what?

I think you should start a NW Montana thread, toast. Include your Canadian areas. We want pics.

And rarely worth it these days, unless you're bringing BC gear.

A NW MT/Northern Rockies thread would be pretty dope, and it'd cast a wide enough net to bring together the threads of stoke. The SW MT thread seems to be a good example to follow.

I mean, right off the bat we'd have:

    Snowbowl
    Whitefish
    Disco
    LT
    LP
    Turner(?)

    Backcountry TR's in:

    Glacier/Essex
    Whitefish/Swan/Mission ranges
    Lolo/Bitterroot region
    Cabinet mtns

Plus all the good stuff on the fringe in CA/ID.

Just my input, but it might be worth starting this winter season if we've got the mags for it.

Oooooh, we should probably interpret this to mean, "The skiing is so awesome up here that we don't want to let anybody in on the secret." [gag]

Just start a thread you NW MT pussies.

I like the idea of a NW Montana/Crown of the Continent thread, would offer a broader net to gather stoke and conditions updates

No one is stopping you. There's a nice gaggle of Kalispell/Whitefish mags.

Snowbowl posted on Facebook that they're hiring for the maintenance department.

Good amount of space back there. Here's a run

I don't know how long it takes to put up all the towers and then the cable and chairs but it seems like they're running out of time to have it done this year.
Those were up last year at this time :-\ same ones

Cool. Is it the angle of the photo or are those towers overly tall for the terrain and couple feet of snow that would cover the slopes?

They've had all the lift poles up for a week and a half, the more worrisome element is installing the components of the motor room including the wiring. When I asked a key worker about it, he didn't exude a lot of confidence in getting it done this fall. We'll see come December.

I would be extremely surprised if they got this ready this year. The weather up there is gonna get pretty bad soon.

More towers up now, but I'm still skeptical.

    Towers are one thing.
Wheelhouses, motors, cables, safety inspections, test runs...

I don't know what all is involved, but I'm sure it's a lot.
