The last week has continued the corn cycle, and has yielded some good turns. Even went for one last tour up at Marshall before the snow melted out completely at the bottom.

Snowbowl was a delight as usual. Pitchers on the porch at LR has been a riot as well.

But goddamn we need some snow in the lower elevations to shore up the snowpack. Longhorn had a nice skid mark punching through the middle near the bottom.

No, they are going till the 11th now. Definitely starting to get thin down low, with grizzly and Longhorn already closed

thanks man, but likely will not be heading down south.

Yeah, I will play the craiglist game after the weekend, assuming someone else doesn't have some to sell prior. Kind of funny the people asking what they paid for them, but I guess those are the unsold ones. I would be using them next We and/or Th.

That reminds me of the last day, a few years back, when a guy was standing on the side of the road, by the mailboxes, waving down cars going by, trying to sell his coupons.

Skinned up Snowbowl yesterday, beautiful day and nice turns down west ridge. Nice and smooth with new inch. Pretty thin down low. Going up to ride the lift today.

    WOOT WOOT! Nukin' in Missoula

We’re definitely in end-of-season mode here, with only a few remaining pathways to the bottom that aren’t melted out. Still, turns are turns and it’s hella fun with the sunshine.

Since most of Lavelle was dust-on-crust, it was a top-to-bottom kind of day. The early afternoon brought great corn the whole way down, with some bare patches to boot.

Season closeout today had a laundry list of items:

    - refrozen coral reef with a light dusting made for some leg-burning carves.
    - heavy snow at times on Lavelle teasing everyone after a super dry March.
    - the free BBQ burger cooked a hard as leather, and coming with a side of ice cold baked beans in a plastic ramekin. Seriously, WTF?
    - costumed riders all across the mountain generally making for a great closing day vibe.

Anyone heard any recent conditions reports form the missions? Any chance for corn this weekend or has it been too cold since the last warmup?

I was thinking of seeing what the cold front brought to The Bowl. Anyone been up today? Yesterday? Is the Bowl Outrun ski-able?

I drove up there semi ready to ski (geared but apprehensive); one look at the bare-ass Outrun ramp sent me home. Hiking down the Outrun hurts my knees, so unless a big storm comes and buries it, I'm done. Sigh.

In one of the most shocking post-season developments to date, Snowbowl has officially added a summit camera!

Of course, it points towards the sky more than the ground, but I am simply stunned that such a thing has even been accomplished by them.

hopefully it can be pointed at the bowls. Kind of worthless to look at sky and town.

If they did it right it wouldn't be Snowbowl.

So anybody climb Carlton Ridge? Looks like there's still a fair amount of snow up there, is Mormon Creek road open yet?

Have people had good work from mechanic at Hellgate bikes? Just need typical 1000 miles service on the ripmo...suspension service, lube hubs &bb, full brake bleed, etc...

Took today off due to rain, but have been getting some local rides in last few days, plus dealing with family stuff. Trail conditions are good and still a few huckleberries out there.

If anyone wants to set up shuttle for riding Carlton ridge tomorrow(Sun Aug 29), let me know. Also have Sheep mtn loop on the todo list, so could do that or on Monday if someone is interested. Conditions should be excellent.

Have a planned start time? Might ride there and meet you along the way at some point.
