Yep. Killed 14 ducks and 4 honkers in two days. Best jerky ever.

I would be very interested in trying duck jerky. Didn't know that was a thing. Sound like great lift riding or skinning eats.

All hail Snowbowl's white ribbon of death!

But in all seriousness, while it's been a rough start to the season for the bowl I managed to get some fun laps in Sunday. Still a little bummed at the change from November though; got a little too hyped after some early-season touring.

Keep prayers of snow on the mind, and our patience will be rewarded.

W00t w00t! Well it's a start anyway, the inversion has broken up, the snow is falling, and the roads are like grease on glass. Good times.

Skied North Jocko Peak on Thursday. Was able to skin all the way from the trailhead (shoutout to whoever laid down the skin track). Good coverage and the snow was really stable. Definitely had to watch for rocks but overall a really fun day in the backcountry.

    Today did not suck.
Speaking of rocks, I somehow picked up a small core shot on the side of Paradise. I know. Not anywhere near the first in those old Nordicas.

Wow, that's awesome they got Paradise open. I thought the snow situation was a lot more dire than that. Good to hear.

It's not much better. I never realized how many steps there were up to the warming hut.
That said, you could safely ski through Grand Slam trees and it was pretty untracked there for a while. Felt good to get my float on.

From the lake? That's a lot of skinning for not very much vert! Honestly impressive that somebody would want to do this before april...

Anyway I'm pretty fucking excited for Wednesday, pretty unusual true opening day situation for the bowl.

It certainly felt way more dire only a week ago, and some of the south-facing runs were completely bare on the lower part of the mtn. The pineapple punch we got was certainly a setback, but even from the WROD you could see that more snow had survived that previously thought:

And now with Lavelle opened you've got some solid coverage to enjoy on the upper mountain. Was up there on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised at the conditions:

So keep your fingers crossed on this next system for more base-building material. If all goes well I might sneak in a pre-work lap on Wednesday.

We skied it from Jocko Falls, so if your referring to Lost Sheep Lake, then yes. It was a good time and we got to explore a lot of new country. The vert on the ride down isn’t spectacular but for a quick early season jaunt it was great.

I’m also only 17 and relatively new to the sport (3 years) so that might have something to do with it lol

Another great day at The Bowl. On my last run before leaving for work (just before 1 pm), Art told me they were planning on opening the bowls later in the afternoon, so it should be game on tomorrow.
