Um, what I was trying to say above, is, it's on like Donkey Kong. The mountain is growing.

NOAA's forecast discussion is touching on some interesting notes for the rest of this week:

Best keep the fingers crossed for the frontal boundary timing to be right. Friday might be another sick day...

Copy that. Dreaded likely persistent looks to be in play for the season there

I wish I didn't go home for the holidays. Looks like a bowl is getting a really good morning or two out of this.

Word. Definitely planning on the p-lot being crowded through the weekend/New Year. Lookout, LT, and the Disco might bleed some of the crowds away if we all get dumped on.
Yet even on the busiest of days I've found that the bowl is exceptional at spreading the crowds around. Thank God for slow double-chair lifts.

Should have gone home early! Unforecasted ice at Stevens today ruined the holidays for me!

We've had a number of good days at the Bowl so far this season.
That said, we're definitely in need of a colder storm cycle to roll through again.
Today's conditions were like skiing a sandwich. Cold enough near the top for some soft turns, and the bottom section was turning into decent corn snow. But the entire middle half was icy chunks, and you had to be on your guard a bit.
From Thursday:
Hopefully this all gives the backcountry a chance to settle up a bit before the next shift.

I don't remember how to do this and a little bit out of practice on this, but today was a ***/****. First run on the ridge was especially good and filled in, and the crust was almost not felt despite only 15" or so new snow on top of it because of the upside down structure(thanks to the late night warmup yesterday). Lower trees need a little more filling in too, despite a 50" day. Can't complain besides that.

Finally met a mag on Friday's pow day. Wordbird is a good shredder, and made some fine turns with him before I had to dip out for work.
The pow turned to mashed potatoes on Sunday. The northerly aspects above 6500' stay nice and fluffy, but anything south facing or below that turned into decent spring skiing by the afternoon. Good day to ski with the lady and take it easy.
Inversions, inversions, inversions:
She enjoyed the mashers through the bowls well enough:
Now about that next storm cycle....

The Bowl and area has seem some of the warm temps in the past couple weeks, but luckily the higher terrain has managed to have some of the goods.
Though wind slabs and deep slabs have been a problem in the backcountry.
Managed a few TV mountain laps today while being the only people up there. Wordbird on point with the turns.
If you haven't been able to get out in the past few weeks, we might be getting a good dump in the coming days. Fingers crossed.
