1. they are dropping the carbon rear for full aluminum.
2. they are not available till march at the earliest.
3. there will be double stays on both sides that look similar to the new RDH rear triangle.
4. it should build to ~32 with a stock build, and under 30 if you know what you are doing with a custom build.
it rides really nicely.

A category that hasn't been around yet? Bushwacker will be pissed when he finds out that Yeti invented "all-mountain".
Is this another incarnation of the Split Pivot/ABP/whateverthefuckyoucallit?Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

i think it is similar to the 575/asr linkage, but with a pivot instead of the carbon link part. the proto alu rear triangle is still being developed, so semi-impossible to say, but yeah, the carbon rear was Split Pivot/ABP/whateverthefuckyoucallit

awesome-o. I'll be interested in spinning it out, but wondering if it will be overkills, only seat time and grin factor will tell.

bumping this thread bc I would love to hear from those who have spent some time aboard this rig.
How do you like it?
How does it compare to the old gen (07) style 575?
Pro's and con's?
etc etc etc

FWIW, my mechanic has one (he's the local Yeti rep, too) and says it's the sweetest ride he's ever had. He built his up with XTR and tick wheels and it's under 30. He said its best attribute is it's cornering--he said it makes a 575 feel like a semi truck on corners.
"All God does is watch us and kill us when we get boring. We must never, ever be boring."

I think I like my 575 to feel like a semi truck in corners...? haha
Thanks Rev- I think I wants it
Who has ridden/owned both? Post up.

I rode a lap on one a few weeks ago. I was really surprised at how XC-ish it felt. This was with a Fox 36 up front. I think a Totem could help, but it was definitely too steep/quick steering for my tastes.
I'm so hardcore, I'm gnarcore.

1. it is 31.0 lbs stock, no pedals
2. it climbs jsut as well IMO as the 575, as it rides a little higher and more in the firm zone of travel.
3. it descends very well. not mini-dh, more like super plush trail bike.
4. totem with a zero stack 1.5 reducer lower cup would be the tick posssibly.
5. it is much stiffer in the rear end than the 575.

Marshal- You think the 7 would be overkill for CB/Gunny? You know how I ride and I feel like my 575 kills it here, but I feel obligated to look further into a more super plush trail bike.
And the rear end being stiffer isnt a huge selling point for me, with my weight, I honestly like the way it flex's.
Plus now that I own a single speed, and no gravity stuff, I dont need lightweight as much.
I just wana go faster...

Marshal, you are right and I will do that.
Rideit, why both? to me they both seem to be long travel trail bikesMore fucked up than a cricket in a hubcap

no, i know the difference between the 2, its about a degree in the HA and 2" of travel. Even the Reign "seems" to me to be a more burl bike than the ASR-7. Of which Rideit owns one of as well.
I am future shopping for the next trail bike for me. I like to hammer on the DH, but i ride with some fast guys on the climbs, so I am trying to find the perfect blend of pedaling effeciency and downhill trail bike prowess to fit my needs.
edit: my bad its 2.5 degrees in the HA, wow the 7 is way more slackLast edited by Crinkle; 07-04-2009 at 11:31 AM.
