Read the book last month and never wanted it to end. Such an intense story. It was cool to get an in depth look at Plake, too. He was my idol in my early years of skiing. The book really made me want to go to Chamonix even if just to see these mountains in real life. Looking forward to the film for sure.

I apologize in advance if this is a re-run.
Good interview of SkiWrite by Derek Taylor on pmag.

Very stoked for this movie and good to hear more from Kerig on this great work.

Another bump for a good book. It's not really a book though, it is something else. There are lots of books.

Anyway, big fuck you to the author for making me lie in bed for so long and then hurt my back . I'm a slow reading non literary type. Lay down in bed last night at 11pm to read the first chapter... finished the last chapter this morning at 6am. The sun was up, I closed the blinds and slept for 9 hours. That's 16 hours horizontal! I get up all dazed and confused reliving my own small times in the Chamonix backcountry. Go outside to do some labour and instantly pull a muscle in my back. WTF? So now I'm inside sweating in agonising muscle spasms with nothing interesting to read and an itch for some ski mountaineering. The book gave me muscular dystrophy. I'm ruined. I take full responsibility.

ps - making a movie sounds like hell on Earth - all the people and politics involved.
    Life is not lift served.

I can't remember for sure, but I think it was around late-Feb?

Plake touches on it in this interview, too: http://tv.powdermag.com/tv/548/vendo...RS-STUDIO.html

Sorry, this one is long, but if you let it download, skip to about minute 11:30. (And as you'll see, I've learned how to adjust sound levels since the Kerig int.).

Wow... that looks like an intense flick on many levels. Definitly must see and read the book.

Funny story regarding Plake... I met this German dude (Mike Braun) down in the DR who runs an international adventure biz. He was skiing Chamonix and one stormy day went out alone following some tracks. He sailed over this 10-20' wall of stairs and crashes nearly on top of a spread eagled Plake who had just done the same. They laughed and spent the day together having, needless to say, one of this guys most favorite, evah. (And I got Wayne Wong at Nashoba Valley...oh well!)

i read the book a couple weeks ago on a trip. it was excellent. I was excited to see the trailer after reading it too. It was strange how that whole business went down so I'm psyched to see Bill's final project.

    re:the book, awesomeness on paper!
i bought 5 copies after seeing/hearing Bill speak at the Dynastar Spring Daze in April 09
i read mine in in one night (that night, which really screwed up my skiing the next day) and all of the recipients of the other copies have expressed equal pleasure in the read
i am currently rereading it to my son (5 year old) before bed when he wants to "hear the skiing book"
can not wait for the movie....

Good news. Congrats for finishing this project. Awesome trailer. While reading the book I always hoped that finally the film project would materialize.

Can't wait to get a hand on a DVD (I assume you won't touring through Europe with this film ?).

SkiWrite, are you planning to bring the movie to Canada's mountain film festivals? The ones I have in mind are The Banff Mountain Film Festival and the Freshtival in Calgary.

    Hey All,

Thanks for the good words. Really stoke me.

We are touring through New England this fall. Check the events here: http://www.edgeofneverfilm.com/events-calendar/

Also, we are currently trying to work out details to get into Banff, Freshtival, and the Whistler Film Fest. More on that soon.

As for DVDs, we'll start selling them around Thanksgiving on our site, edgeofneverfilm.com.

    Cheers,
    BK

The movie looks incredible. I can't wait to buy a copy of the DVD when it's released.

I took the book with me on my trip to Chamonix last weekend hoping to re-read bits and pieces of it while I was down there. We kept ourselves too busy for any reading, but I have since started it again after returning home. You're a very talented writer, Bill. I'm getting just as much, if not more, joy reading the story the second time around. Thank you for all of your hard work making this project happen and for sharing it with the world.

Just bumping to remind those about the premiere tomorrow night. Who out there is going? This is the most excited I have been for any film in a while.
