^^^ Yeah, that's what my new skis look like, too. I'll investigate further with the shop via ye old mobile phone tomorrow, see if they have any thoughts on the matter.
And yeah, I think that'll be what I go to in the future for the loops - got them in this time but won't go to that trouble again.
Is there a specific torque the carbide nuts should be torqued to? Or is it just "tight"?"...if you're not doing a double flip cork something, skiing spines in Haines, or doing double flip cork somethings off spines in Haines, you're pretty much just gaping."

You should get new bolts for the skis as well with nuts, washers etc. Good idea to grease and take apart as the rubber that goes between the ski and spindle often needs to be replaced. Also makes life way easier. And I don't run carbines, just the metal runners. The glance off rocks better and while living in the rockies I hit rocks often or wear them out on access. Cheap too , 40$.

On the topic of skis... anyone ever gouged the lateral plastic of the ski and made a good repair? I stupidly cut out the gouged section, so there’s a curved indentation now that seems like it could easily snag on stuff. Any ideas? Thinking about dremeling and beveljng unless there’s a better idea out there. Thanks!

I just trimmed mine with a knife when that happened - didn't think about it again.
Why new bolts and washers? Ski kit came with new nuts, so set there but the bolts and existing washer look fine to me - plenty of grease on the bolt still when I disassembled (I assume white lithium grease is fine during reassembly?). And yeah, I went with new rubbers - stay safe out there kids. Now that I think about it, it was just metal running bars the kit came with - no carbides."...if you're not doing a double flip cork something, skiing spines in Haines, or doing double flip cork somethings off spines in Haines, you're pretty much just gaping."

^ Nah, just the spacer seized to the axle sheathe (in the diagram above it was part 8 and 14 that seized together).
Sweet photo Shredhead - looks like an amazing day."...if you're not doing a double flip cork something, skiing spines in Haines, or doing double flip cork somethings off spines in Haines, you're pretty much just gaping."

Damn nice pic! that's what I envisioned when I bought my sled..getting into the backcountry w some buddies for some turns...but haven't made it a priority or let stuff get in the way, at least thus far.
anyway, I read about Grant's cabin a while ago being closed. something about a lame land ownership issue w the county. did the owner ever get it squared away?

Seems a good time to ask this question, as it came up today......
please indulge my extremely forward, uneducated, quick and dirty inquiry: How much should I be paying for a 2008 summit 800 154 with 1050miles in good to very good condition?

Agreed, honestly a few more km on an etec for close to that price would be the way to go. Carb motors on those almost always need a new top end in less than 4000km. Etecs I've seen get 6500km by someone is full pin all the time or 10000 for average guy sled skiing.

I'm looking to buy a sled for ski touring access in the Okanagan. Some questions for ya.
1. Beater truck vs Car and trailer?
2. Is this a good choice?2009 Ski Doo summit X 154
3. With the sled above, can I tow skiers or double up? Mainly thinking Snow covered roads to get to the skin track.
4. Where in Kelowna/Vernon should I get a radio?
5. Sled Storage? I live in Kelowna, work in Vernon. Any ideas for a cheap safe place?
