the "Terrible Two's" are not actually terrible. Around the 2nd year, a human is learning to acknowledge his/her identity as different from those around him/her. "Mine" is just a term to learn to identify between identities of those around the child. So... when she learns to talk and suddenly starts smarting off, she's actually learning that she has a separate identity away from her parents and is testing the boundaries to identify what we consider social norms. To do so, she must first categorize physical objects into possessions of identities.
Have fun... and buy the book Brain Rules. I've been pushing this book recently because I think it should be standard reading for all people who work and raise kids.
