I guess I am just a fan boy, as I was happy for the new episode. And my god, some of the scenery shots in Switzerland looked like my version of Heaven. I still am trying to figure out why Hammond didn't apply the brakes at the finish line and went off the road at speed instead

I thought it was pretty good. With the exception of the segment with the guests, it flowed well. Certainly better than a tube up your ass.

Hopefully the subject matter- Hammond's near fatal crash- just made it hard to put together a good episode. On the other hand, those guys are looking old and unhealthy. Season 1 could have been their last hurrah before running out of steam.

Concur with the other comments ,
It felt to me like they had jumped the shark the last season of BBC Top Gear. It was my favorite show by a large margin. Especially the adventures. Now they have become caricatures of themselves. There are still a few moments but they are becoming further and further apart. I don't blame them as they are getting massively compensated by Amazon but at some point they should just hang it up.License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations

About to watch this week's GT... Iffy about last week, but waiting for the travel show and some more time before I decide if the shark has been jumped.
On another note, my wife just sent me out of the kitchen by saying "go watch British men racing old vehicles"
I literally LOL'd

I think you guys should go back and watch some of the old seasons, there are duds galore. Well maybe not galore, but I think you are thinking back with rose colored glasses.
The worst episode by far was when they started an art gallery back in like season 12.
That being said, I think this new season is pretty solid. They are clearly outside of their non-compete or whatever they had with the BBC and can get back to normal. Hopefully they bring a true cheap car challenge back. Those have always been my favorite.Live Free or Die

Agreed. Mostly because the cheap car challenge allowed for the least scripted (and seemingly most genuine) episodes.

Yeah, I've just been skipping over those segments. The SIARPC was soooo much better.

Running over multiple sheep in episode 5 really pissed me off. No disclaimers at the end of the show. Done watching these guys.

They sure tried to sell it as real. Regardless it left a sour taste in my mouth.

Does no one care about the fake sheep? Who speaks for them?

Totally agree. The last 2 GTs have been great. I really dig the old stories of racing - very few rules, completely reckless driving and prima donna drivers. The Lancia-Audi rivalry perfectly exemplifies German efficiency and engineering vs. Italian I-don't-give-a fuck attitude.
