I think the spirit of these things is to get as many people together who may not otherwise meet and have a good time. Location is kind of secondary, so my vote is for Utah. It's easy access airport in and out of most major NA cities, plenty of cheap accommodations, plenty of great lift as well as BC skiing options within close proximity to each other, almost guaranteed good snow conditions in march, maybe a weekend Gordy camp to coincide and a large local contingent willing to put people up and show them around.
People could argue AK or some far off place we've never hit, but the reality of it being a success is slim. IMO, Utah is due for a maggot raping and pillaging.

You almost described Reno/Tahoe! You left out a few things though:
- Gambling (you may be able to pay for your trip!)
- 24 hour drinking
- Free ride from the airport to your diggs
- Shitloads of bars and clubs in close proximity to eachother (convenient hopping)
- Legalized hookers
- Close proximity between many Hotels
- Really cheap in many cases FREE booze
- 24 hours to drink it
- Hookers
- Cheap & good food that can be found 24 hours a day
- Beer that has a decent alcohol content
- Microbreweries
- 24 hours to drink that beer
- Squaw, Alpine, Kirkwood, Heavenly, Sugar Bowl just for starters
- I think Southwest will get you here for like $6 each way and you get 2 free check-ins and a hand-job
- All the cool kids are here
- Cheap and tasty food
- Did I mention 24 hour drinking?
okbye

I voted Wyoming mainly because of the tram going back in.
In previous years threads there were reasons used against/for other places. I love Utah, but one of the reasons it hasn't got a high vote total in previous years is because there are already so many people there and the Str8line camps bring in even more for 3 or 4 weekends.
There is usually a CO mini and Mammoth mini that bring out a ton of people as well.
I'm also not to fond of hte hoping around like we have done last year and years before. Jackson allows everyone to stay in the same spot, ski Jackson, Targhee or the pass and it has been 4 years I think since there was a summit there.Originally Posted by wintermittentOriginally Posted by snowsprite

How many people made it to the Montana summit? I don't remember hearing a lot about it.

IIRC, Jackson & Tahoe had pretty good turnouts as did the original SLC summit. (CO?) The others, not so much.

the PNW summit is the only one I've attended but it was just alright. Met and skied with a lot of cool people but the way it got spread around between PNW resorts & then up to WB had everyone all over the place.
I'd recommend you go with a summit with very clearly defined schedule of days pencilled in at specific resorts that minimize the travel logistics. Most important though would be for someone to step up to be lead organizer, someone who takes in the collective wishes but with the balls to say: this is what we are doing, this is when we're doing it, and this is where we're doing it. And they need to do that early. They need help obviously but the "leaders" need to facilitate that through the whole deal. That allows the travelers to schedule around that shit and would seem to be the key to making it a successful summit.
PS: This SUMMITS forum sucks ass and is partly the reason why it's hard to run a successful summit. No one fucking comes in this hole to see fuck all!‹^› ‹(•¿•)› ‹^›

I voted for the PNW, but I didn't think it through. It would be rad to get to Jackson. Oooootah, can always use an excuse to go there...and bring some real beer.
Jackson just sounds like more fun.

Alta or Jackson
Either way I'm hitting both this season.
