That's a awesome truck. We got our boy that rig for his first car - First gen '98, single cab, 4 banger 2.7 with 5 speed.

I cruise it around while he's away at school and it's impossible to drive without a big smile on my face.

Exact same set up. 2.7 5 speed with kind of rare 4.3 factory gears

    My GC's old ride.
I hope we didn't pay for those rims. Still not sure how I feel about them. It does look better in person, but too much rim IMHO.

Way out of proportion. Less rim more rubber would look a lot better. 18's with 35's would look about right.

Yep, those rims say "all hat, no cows". Could be a sweet looking and functional ride with 17s and 35s or 37s. Easy to see there's no rock scrapes on the rims and if he were using it, those rims would be trashed.

A how-to and not how-to on wheels and tires. Single's rig shows how-to do it right. The other almost makes me ill on what's otherwise a cool rig.

Nice. I get the feeling we're gonna see some changes to that rig.

Similar truck, extra cab space. Daily driven for years until I had the need to add a rear-facing carseat, then lifted 3" and promoted to weekend warrior. Best vehicle I've ever owned by orders of magnitude.

Nice! I’ve got the same color 4Runner. 1999 SR5 stick shift with a locker also. 135k miles. Lifted with rock sliders. It’s more faded and scratched on the outside though

Scheming on some stuff, but it has also recently had a rebuild transfer case, replacement long block, 4 wheel disc brake conversion and a handful of other unexpected crap in the last year of ownership. Favorite car I have owned so far though.

I too had a 2000 4Runner Limited (with locker!). Owned from dealer demo ~5000mi and put another 237k on her with zero issues. Replaced only tires, brakes, oil and a steering column. Still the last pretty 4Runner IMHO.

Traded in for the world's biggest lemon of an X5. Still miss that truck.
