    Last night:
Hot Sausage patties made in olive oil with sweet onions and peppers done in white wine+plum sauce, all wrapped up in warm naan bread with lettuce.

Tonight: out of naan bread, so I did the sausage in oil with sweet onions the whole time (much better taste out of this) with peppers+onions in plum sauce, white wine and olive oil (reduced too fast last night), all dumped in a salad.

Last night Shrimp Fra Diavolo over angel hair and Salad. Super easy and awesome.

1 pound large shrimp, peeled, deveined
1 teaspoon salt, plus additional as needed
1 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper flakes
3 tablespoons olive oil, plus 1 to 2 tablespoons
    1 medium onion, sliced
    1 (14 1/2-ounce) can diced tomatoes
    1 cup dry white wine
    3 garlic cloves, chopped
    1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
3 tablespoon chopped fresh Italian parsley leaves
3 tablespoon chopped fresh basil leaves

Toss shrimp in red pepper flakes and salt - saute in olive oil about 2 minutes or so. Take out of pan, saute onion until soft - 5 mins. Add wine, garlic, tomatoes and let simmer until sauce is thickened - 10/15 minutes. Add shrimp back in and fresh herbs. cook for another minute or so and serve over pasta with fresh parm.
Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.

We had margarita chicken thighs and mint/cilantro rice last night, but that shrimp fra diavolo is good stuff.

Last night I made up a sweet curry, vanilla yogurt, vindaloo powder, rogon Josh powder, and maharajah curry powder, and chicken broth. Suateed onions, shallots, carrots, red peppers, crimini mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms. Added garlic and ginger, then cubes on smoked duck and rare roasted NYstrip. Served on basmati and Nan.

Besides meatballs? Bump for springtime ideas. I braised an elk roast last week that was to shoot for.

There's good fresh haibut in the markets right now. Search some out, grill it over coals, basting with a butter/lemon/basil/mustard concoction and serve with sauteed spinach and bacon on the side.

Simple, delicious. Eat after having Hendrick's gin & tonics on the patio as the sun gets low in the sky.

All the fall vegetables are starting to come in, so I made a vegetable cassoulet last night to use 'em up and clean out the fridge a bit. Cut up squash, potatoes, peppers, garlic and onions into about 1/2" cubes, sauteed with a little olive oil till starting to soften, then put in a roasting pan with a couple of cans of great northern beans, some cut-up tomatoes, kale, kalmata olives, bay leaves, fresh thyme, chunks of goat cheese (cut up some drunken goat since that's what was in the fridge), and a little chicken stock (just enough to moisten). Stirred together and roasted for about 40 minutes, till soft and starting to get a little browned on top. Sprinkled breadcrumbs mixed with grated parm reg and more thyme on top and broiled till browned. Tasty (and healthy!).

I invited you last Saturday - for baconfest, no less - but you were too busy chasing after a small piece of plastic in Phoenix.

I like how you have a drunken goat in your fridge. I'd be pissed he drank all my beer.

I'm making an irish stew to bring on the river for sunday, and most likely linguine and clam sauce for tonight.

Chuck-eye pot roast with carrots, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, gravy, flaky biscuits.

It must be fall if a pot roast is cooking in our house
