It'll be more interesting to see how each of them do against their new teammates. Than drivers in other cars.

Ocon seemed to be getting back up to speed late last season. And Lando Norris is no walkover, as he showed against Sainz. Who Ferrari picked over taking Riccardo, again.

It looks like the McLaren maybe ahead of the other midfielders.

Looking forward to the first three races to see how each team and team mates shaped up. All have new aero package. Ferrari has new engine, Honda pulled up their big upgrade, and I'm sure Renault and Mercedes did not just sat on their hands. 7 out of 10 teams have different team mates.

    It's Go Time in Bahrain
Fernando Alonso: "I’m very excited for the entire weekend. There has been a lot of preparation for this moment, not only with the team during testing and the work done at both factories over the winter period, but also personally. Ever since I agreed to join Alpine F1 Team, I have put a lot of effort in to be both physically and mentally prepared for this season. I learnt a lot in my time away from Formula 1, especially all the different styles of racing, but I’m now back in F1 and very motivated for what should be a challenging season ahead. It was fun to be back at the wheel of an F1 car for testing, but now I can’t wait to go racing."

If there is one constant in Formula 1, it is change. After a disastrous 2020, when Ferrari was grateful for no fans in the stands, the Scuderia is looking for a fresh start. For Ferrari, the biggest change is in its driver lineup, the youngest since 1968, with Charles Leclerc joined by Carlos Sainz, the average age on Sunday is 25 years and three days. So far, Sainz has taken part in 118 Grands Prix, with two podium finishes and one fastest lap to his name.

Another change concerns the event timetable, with Friday’s free practice sessions now reduced in length from 90 minutes to an hour.

Car set-up in Bahrain is focused on low and medium-speed corners because the high-speed turns can be taken easily flat. Mechanical grip is also important, to propel the cars out of the slow corners. This is the opposite to tracks like Silverstone, where high-speed corner performance is the priority.

A specific challenge in Bahrain is the differing conditions in practice. FP1 and FP3 take place in the warm temperatures and sunshine of daytime, but FP2 is run in the cooler twilight temperatures also experienced during qualifying and the race. Temperature and track conditions have a huge impact on the tires and car handling, so it makes car set-up particularly difficult.
Running in FP1 and FP3 therefore has limited value, so those daylight sessions are typically reserved for working on test items or tire behavior. The pressure is then on the FP2 run plan, because the twilight session is the only one to provide representative conditions for qualifying and the race. So, track time must be maximized in this session.

The sand is also a factor in Bahrain, although it doesn't tend to cause much drama for the cars and drivers, nor does it impact lap times too much. The sand does however impact track evolution and cause a reset, so it is preferable not to be the first car out on track in a session..

In testing Red Bull Racing was quickest. We will find out more beginning on Friday practice for the Bahrain Gran Prix on March 26th. The race day TV coverage begins at 9:30 AM EDT on ESPN2 Sunday, March 28th, with the lights out for the start of 2021 shortly after 11 AM. Vettel and Stroll at Aston Martin should be intriguing too, particularly in wet conditions.

Lewis drove like a madman today to finish second, fastest lap to boot to keep him 1 point ahead of Max...gonna be a fun season. Gasly is fun to watch, impressive finish all things considered.

Lando Norris was damn impressive the way he held off Hamilton for so long with perfect defense.

maybe, or Lewis was being patient so as not to bin it a second time. He probably wasn't imagining catching up the red bull
Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

Yup, with Lando on softs, it was just a matter of time they'd go away on him

Anyone else think Russell's acted like a little bitch after he over corrected passing Bottas?
