The Indycar race last week was damn good. Can't wait to watch the parade this weekend in Australia. Maybe the Mclaren will make it to the first round of pitstops before it grendaes lol. Indycar once again proving to be the best racing in 2018.

I hope you're joking. I started this thread back in 2008. I'm a fan of RACING. motocross, ski cross, sailing, whatever goes fast and takes balls to win.
stoked to see Formula E in Brooklyn in July. We almost had indy car in Boston. I was all signed up to work the event.
Club racing is the best. No sponsors, no tickets. Just show up and camp. Lime Rock, The Glen, NHIS, Whiskey Hill in Palmer, Thompson, etc.
    new kid on the block

I guess there's no helmet law in NH
    Factory Five, check it out

Any of y'all gonna quit watching because of the Halo? My God, what a joke F1 has become. Racin is supposed to be dangerous. Thats why guys like Foyt, Rutherford, Sneva, Clark, Hill, Stewart etc obtained a mythic status. Its why the moments/pre-race before the Indianapolis 500 are the most palpable and dramatic in sports- Because the spectre of death looms above the race. The morbid uncertainty of subconsciously acknowledging that at any moment over the next 500 miles, brave men could die.

F1 has pretty much eliminated this element of drama from the sport. No one wants to see a driver die. I was heartbroken when Wheldon, Renna, Brayton, Wilson, Dana, Bianchi, Earnhardt and Senna died (albeit I was like 6 when that happened). However danger and the risk of death is part of the sport and what makes it so bad ass.

    Stewart?

    Jackie Stewart?

    The relentless safety campaigner?

He thinks the halo is a good idea.

    For the racins

Are you serious? Or have you hit your head too many times?

    So...Fucking...Stoooopid!!!

    Serious questions;
    Have you ever raced anything?
Whats the fastest you've ever gone in a car, boat, motorcycle...?
Have you ever seen anyone die in person from a crash?

    1. Yes, shifter karts
    2. I've flown a Citation 550 and multiple single engine aircraft .
    3. Yes, Dan Wheldon, Justin Wilson, Scott Brayton

Racing is dangerous, it will always be an inherent nature of the sport. Most F1 drivers dont even want the halo. Most drivers don't even want the indycar aeroscreen. Again, the implication of the paying the ultimate price to achieve glory in racing is one of its universal appeal.

What other safety measures should be removed then?

Bag tanks, cockpit intrusion tests, fire proof overalls, certification of helmets, seat belts, SAFER barriers... how about getting more crashing cars flying into the crowds Le Mans 1955 style.

    You're a fucking idiot.

and.. The HALO was backed by the GPDA by a majority vote among it's members in 2017

my money is on shifter cart guy. since you called him out, sir heady, what's your speed resume look like ?
I don't get it when the dick wagging prevails IN CAR RACING.
At the track, you better not have that attitude in the paddock or you're gonna get sum. My buddy STOMPS on cars technically way faster in his Mustang GT that he does most of the wrenching on and all the tedious work it takes to turn a street car into a track car. Because ? He's not a pussy and puts 110% in EVERY time he's on the track.
Funny, when rich dudes in BMWs and Porsches that are worth 5 times as much can't get around him and then come over and start asking lots of friendly questions about the Mustang.
and yeah, it's fucking dangerous. You should just have the option for a halo if you want one. Ya think it would've prevented Massa from getting tagged in his helmet by Rubens ? who knows ? Just don't turn it into a pussy sport.

Motor racing's history is one of constantly trying to make it safer.

Right back to the 1903 Paris-Madrid race being shut down by the French and Spanish governments.. you should Google it.

you should post a link, maybe skip the condescending part, or don't if it makes you feel more astute about racing history. I'm not against safety but I think it should be the driver's choice, not an imposed rule.
not the freshest take on the halo but there's a nasty crash in there.
