The dog would have bitten me. He said let the kitty sort itself out. And begged his way into my lap. Tough love for kitty today. I never know if these pics belong in kitty Stoke or dog stoke. There isn't a gaper Jong asshat thread for combined stoke and I am too lazy to post same pics in both threads. I guess I tend to dump them here. So that answers my question.

    Same here!!
A couple days ago Ms Boissal calls me saying she's 5 minutes away from the house and bringing home a coworker's labradoodle. Dude got stuck in the valley during snowmaggedon and couldn't swing by his place to drop off Scout before his shift started. She offered to watch him for the night as he's well behaved around cats. I was asked to wrangle all 4 kitties and put them in safe spots so the dog wouldn't see them right away when he came in the house. Kittehs refused to be corralled (obviously) so Scout barged in and immediately got a swipe to the nose and a concert of hisses. He retreated and gave the cats a wide berth the whole night. This is one of many hilarious pics of him trying to navigate the cat field:

My GF posted on FB that her 16yo cats had destroyed her tree. Some cats never lose their kitten like love for destroying Christmas trees.

I set up a small tree before so my cats could go off on it but they barely acknowledge that its there.

The cat house showed up today. Testing it out to make sure it heats.

Seems well built, super easy together and to put away for storage. Got a waterproof mat to put down under it as a thermal break from the concrete it will be sitting on.

It will be under my deck nearest to an electrical outlet, its not 100% sheltered from wind and water but best I can do for now. Probably need to rig something up, a small tarp perhaps, for better weather protection.

Assume it has the pressure switch to turn on the heating element? May need to warm it up first - a brick works well - to entice them in.

Yes. It is the kind that needs pressure on it to turn on. I took the door off and put the food bowl in there. He has been in it, so far so good.

    .

I mentioned up thread but think it got lost in all the off topic chatter - I put a piece of rigid insulation under mine to help conserve and reflect back the heat. My house is in a shop, don't know if that would make a huge diff with the performance of the insulation piece.

When I first got the house (the single one I've had for a bit). I shoved the cat in there a few times to show it to her and I too took the front door off. She figured out pretty quick that it was a nice warm place to sleep. Same with Mischa, now he sleeps in it all the time.

BTW - Alice used the house first. After she passed I just cleaned the heating pad cover and it was good to go for Mischa.

I'm still waiting for my dbl wide for Marta to arrive. Things sometimes take a bit longer out here in the boonies esp. when it snows.

I wonder if wrapping it in the blue tarp will trap too much heat and moisture?

Don't think so, it has two doors one in front and one in the back. Plenty of air flow even with the tarp.

Its under the deck but if it rains enough that location can get wet.

Pretty kewl design. At least when I am away for several days recreating and he is out of the basement I know he has a dry warm spot to go.
