Damn, Buttah. Too bad you couldn't extend even half the sympathy you've received to Nutmeg back in the day. Sorry to hear your situation but your jackass post from three years ago stuck with me and really told me all I need to know about you.

    Kitty Stoke

Black cats crossing my timeline! Must be a good sign.

Road between my apt and GFs house has vegetation and no shoulders. Perfect place for a rabbit or coon or whoever to blast out in front of the car. I try to be careful but at night im like a hawk. 35 mph 2 lane. Few nights ago pitch dark night and cat shoots out in front of me running near full speed and then stops in front of me and looks at my approaching car. Im totally able to stop but like abs activating on dry pavement urgency. Cat then kinda looks like “fuck, asshole didn’t kill me?!” So it just walks off all super casual like “oh, I meant it to happen like that”

Prolly won’t ever have my own cat but I love this thread

She has some coon. She's a complete mutt. And she's tiny compared to a full coon cat. She also has four white socks, which is adorable.

Figure this might be the best place to ask...

I'm allergic to cats, but we would like to add a cat to our family. Hoping for a cat that is somewhat hypoallergenic, won't terrorize or be terrorized by our kids, and us a good mouser. Likely indoor only cat since we have several large predatory birds and animals that surround us. Prefer not a hairless cat as they kind if freak me out.

    Any suggestions?

If I was not allergic we would just go to the humane society.

I'll see what I can do. She hates the paparazzi so I have to sneak up on her or have something she wants. And you just try getting her to pose the way you want. Ai yai yai.

Cannot help you with info on non allergenic cats. However, I can tell you that my cat allergies have improved since we got our first cat 6 year ago. I take 2 nasal sprays daily and do pretty well with them.

It is indeed where we put it aside. And we comfort those that are pain, no matter their history.

Short hair cats obviously. Be very skeptical of breeders offering non allergic cats, pretty sure it's complete BS. Also, like BC13 mentions, many allergic people say their symptoms gradually reduced. Two in my immediate family would attest to this.

EDIT and yeah, gonna need socks x 4.

Ok, so it's more like two mittens and two socks. Either way, it's all four.

This and a few others. If you are allergic to cats, you are usually allergic to the protein Fel D1, which is contained in cat saliva. Cornish Rex, Devon Rex, Oriental, Russian Blue, Balinese and Siberian are good choices for those with this type of allergy.

We have 2 dog doors in the house that I close at night to keep the cats in. That is really a PITA as I have been getting up in the middle of the night to take a wizz and then take the dogs outside to do their business. It then often takes me an hour plus to fall back to sleep, so I told my wife I was going to start leaving the dog doors open as our "baby cat" Misty has been with us for 18 months and knows her way home.
Problem is, we live on a early morning and afternoon busy street and the "old cat" TG ran across the street this morning and almost got flattened before my eyes. So now I am back to "those fuckers are never going outside again". So what to do? Do I lock them in my office at night with a litter box and let them out once it is light? They normally sleep with us, but I need to leave the dog doors open at night and not have to worry about the cats getting flattened.
