Unfortunately I had to put the old guy down today. It was time. Last Wednesday he had done something to his hip or back and could not walk a straight line. It was like he had no control of his hind quarters.

Merciful but never easy. He's buried in his pasture where I can remember him peacefully grazing and kicking up his heels.

Condolences. That stuff rips me up, but it's unkind to leave our buddies in pain.

Thanks everyone. Having a pretty crappy day. My appy keeps calling for him and there's nothing I can do. I have donkeys which he loves but he knows the herd is incomplete.

He was a beautiful boy. My favorite color and breed.

Not much more beautiful than a seal bay thoroughbred in my book. Majestic animals and poetry in motion when they move out.

That pic was taken on the day he arrived on my farm 13 years ago. He was 23 when he left this world.

Mr Kitty has me worried. I’m not sure what to do. He has been losing weight I would guess 5 pounds. I finally started paying more attention to him. He has a tooth problem. Probably from some trama he suffered in march. So I’m giving him soft kitten food. And his vet appointment is next Monday. Now that I look I think his eye is fucked up because of the tooth issues. Do I call it an emergency and rush him to emergency? Get pain medication and antibiotics? Or it been a problem for weeks another week doesn’t matter. I feel like a shit for not seeing it sooner

To add. Chewy will deliver a pet carrier and 24 cans of SO 50/50. Soft food that he is supposed to eat. He cannot eat the dry food he’s been on the past 6 years

When it hits 9am here I think that’s what I’m going to do. I let it go way too long. He’s tough but now that I know he’s in bad shape? Every minute sucks. Right now he has a full belly and is purring for no reason. But I know he’s in pain. He has been for maybe a month?

FYI Mr. Kitty came with the Trailer. Abandoned / starving / very low on the wild cat pecking order.
He is still a wuss but seems to hold his own in almost weekly cat fights to hold the Porch and area inside our fence. I think i need to trap and relocate a couple of the meaner cats.

After losing Misty to a car, we said "fuck that" and I just built a catio that Freya really likes.
Once she puts a little more weight on we will try walking her on a kitty harness.
She will never have the freedom Misty had, but that is for her own protection.
