She's 14. The choice was multiple pins, long convalescence and disability for the rest of her life, or euthanasia.

Just got back from escorting her over the rainbow bridge. Ms TBS is devastated, and I'm not feeling too great myself.

We had her for 12.5 years. Her first two humans were less than great. The first traumatized her, including a decision to cut off her claws then put her in a shelter when she peed in their closet in protest.

Her second human had to go to a memory center six months after adopting her. Back to the shelter.

She was fine with us, other than occasionally peeing outside her box. We kept her inside as there are owls, coyotes and mtn cats around. She had some nice perches to watch the deer and people go by. I sometimes felt bad keeping her indoors, but several friends here have lost their kitties to predators.

    A little photo retrospective

She would also sit on Ms TBS desk, next to the laptop's fan outlet, and "supervise" her work.

    Miss ya kitty...
Oh, I'm sorry TBS. You did the right thing but it is heart wrenching none the less.

Tanner actually likes getting his belly rubbed. At first I thought it was a trick, but he never objects to any scratching, petting or rubbing.

I know the Old Man is in his last few weeks/months. He's had a few strokes in the last few months, but after an hour or so, he's right as rain. I can't bear to put him down right now. He's happy as shit, clean as fuck, and is still willing to put up with the kids.

Misty is sitting in my lap happily purring as I pet her. Why does she nibble me?

Our cat Smokey, female, nibbles on us when she wants something. Usually more pets (if you stop) or food (especially when the kibble bowl is empty), which progresses to licking your face (if in bed and asleep), then knocking everything off the dresser. We're trained well

He kinda flops over and is pretty unresponsive 30 seconds or so. He's a bit out of it for the next half hour, then it's like nothing happened.

Vibes to the TBS household. That kitty was clearly loved and loved you back because you gave it a better life.

Ugly's coat has reached peak winter madness. He's shaggy as hell right now, looks an old ball of yarn. In a basket:

Mrs Flake and I added a 13 year old girl to the family. Picked her up at the shelter on Monday, so far so good. We haven’t introduced her to our big old boy cat. Minnie starting to relax after being in the shelter for a month. She is so freaking sweet!

Best description of him I've read so far. He's never looked like an after picture for sure...
He's stressed about the dog. She is an attention whore and gets too close for comfort. It's been upsetting his napping habits lately, thus the basket-on-table safe space.

Awesome move! Kittens are great but old cats don't deserve to live their lives in the shelter. We just pulled a 12ish year-old chocolate lab out of a kill shelter, watching her bounce around happy as can be has been making my days lately. Once our kitties cross the rainbow bridge (hopefully not for a long time) we'll stick to adopting old ones who've been in the shelter forever. It's so great to watch them settle in and live the life!
