Yanno.. I am amazed at how white cat fur is and stays. I've had white horses and they are almost impossible to get that white even with rigorous grooming/bathing and if you somehow manage to get them blindingly white it doesn't last long. I think it's the fur itself that repels dirt.

I have a metal roof and one of my cats figured out that he could signal me he wanted in by jumping on the ridge cap. Worked well for him in the middle of the night when I was sleeping. Little bugger!

    Man Down.

Cocoa has been giving off signs that the end is very near. Cold extremities, wobbly when he tries to walk, not eating or doing much of anything, off look to his eyes. He doesn't seem to be in pain but once or twice a day lets out a series of really sad sounding moans.

    Stay strong little buddy.

Cocoa has character. Nothing says survivor like crop eared cat.

Chao is wild now. Prefers shed bed and leaf pile to indoor

Thanks all. We're doing as well as we can given the circumstances.

Djongo knows his story but essentially his ears are like this because he was found by a dog walker abandoned or lost, half frozen in the woods during a particularly nasty mid February snowstorm - he had frost bite bad and lost his ears and some paw pads. He looked like hell when I first saw him.

His origin is a literal metaphor describing the tough stoic nature he maintained since then for twenty plus years.

I know, I know, all kitties are tough like that. My biggest fear is that he's in pain and not showing it.
