Kittens can get respiratory infection pretty easy. His eyes look clear. When did it start? Is he digging at the base of his tail?

Yeah, his eyes don't goo; He's had snuffles ever since we got him, 2 visits to the vet, the vet says either antibiotics or try to wait it out. No tail digging.

Yeah, thanks, he's awesome, super curious, consistent swats at the mouse on the screen. One of 2, really, great, personable pair.
Got them 6 ping pong balls for entertainment.

Wow 4Matic I'm surprised he's so calm about the cone of shame. Hopefully it will help break the cycle for him.

He kinda likes the cone. It keeps him calm. The Gabapentin helps. He loves that stuff. I hand feed him.

    Awwwww he's so cute!

Maybe with the cone it's "out of sight, out of mind" for him.

Definitely. He still wants the tail. It’s tough.

Good news and bad news. Bad news: He figured out how to get to his tail with the cone on. Good news: Tail is not infected and he is just licking it; not biting. Still might need surgery.

He gets a bigger cone today and a refill of his happy juice.

Well hell, a bigger cone and more happy juice! Somebody's getting the hookup...

Solid work 4matic. That's a fine looking feline.

And the little moustache is cool.

    Thanks dj.

Vet recommended sock on the tail. Bigger cone will not fit. Maybe try blow up ring if this no good. Very trusting cat. He is so sweet.

    Good picture

Sock is working for Chao. He can’t tell it’s his tail (yet).

Mr Chao purred for the first time ever afaik and he is happy without anxiety medication. Gobbling food! His tail is stable but it is still way to early to know if it will heal without intervention. He is a joy to help. So gentle and trusting.

Mr Chao has had a couple stress seizures. Can’t say I blame him... He is still happiest with his cone and sock on. He has a lot of skin bumps and sores that I treated with oil and he is eating mostly wet food. His fur is getting better. Still not sure about his outcome.
