    He.

He brought it into the barn and shared it with his siblings. Good kitty! Kill the gophers!

Noticed that forest of catnip growing under the fence panel? I keep them well supplied.

Chao just can't be in the house un-supervised. He gets too excited and starts tail swishing and then the biting starts. He just has to live outside for his own safety. We'll see if and when his tail fully heals if he can come back inside.

Edit: I don’t even see him during the day anymore and just for a little while for food at night. He has found somewhere that makes him feel better.

My old girl Alice is like that but I found her hiding spot by the air conditioner unit under the shrubs.

Something happened with my house cat Marty yesterday. He's fine but he must have had some sort of encounter because he won't go outside with the rest of them and usually he's my first one out in the morning and last one in at night.

Yesterday morning I saw him sitting on the patio with his tail puffed and a glassy stare. No other cats or animals were around but he looked like he'd seen a ghost. I called him to come in but he wouldn't move so I went out and picked him up and brought him in and in is where he's preferred to be ever since.

Yeah. He’s close by but not in my yard anymore. Every spot has an expiration date.

Chao came by for lunch and a drink. You can see in this picture how he is chewing the end of his tail to the bone. It is not raw now Click image for larger version.

After lunch he started to zero in on the tail so I put him in the yard and he took off over the fence. I hope he leaves it alone for a few days and the end falls off.

4matic, is there no way to wrap it up real good so it can heal? I mean lock him in the house so you can keep an eye on him until it is healed up.

    Yeah, cat..

I tried locking him up in the bathroom with heated floor where he used to sleep for days. It was like a horror movie. He went crazy and it sounded like a fight to the death (with his tail). It looked like a crime scene. Blood everywhere!

I have a pretty good handle on what triggers his FHS and just do my best to keep him calm. He's getting really fluffy staying out at night.

Better news. I decided to keep Chao inside and let him work through his OCD with my help. I sat with him for a long while to keep his tail still and he slept all night. A few growls and biting attempts with minor tail bites and he has really calmed down. Still over grooming but tail chasing is less violent. I also start feeding him all natural protein food. That might be helping too.

He may just want to be an indoor cat. That’s possible and I’d take it.

Scratches under his chin and between the ears. He can't sneeze if he's purring.
