Kitty Stoke
Square Face has a cut and smells like skunk. He lets me pick him now so that’s how I knew. Someone takes care of him because he is not hungry but he is also not neutered and has some fleas. I put neosporin on his cut and gave him flea medicine. At some point I’ll get him neutered. He’s super smart with great personality.

OK, so somewhat lengthy, but we got 2 gray kittens last year that are now a year or so old.
One is a grazer, like to eat a little, then go wandering around observing and exploring.
The other is a gorger, loves to pack face with every bit of kitty crunch available.
So the gorger has been ballooning and we've seen him eating the grazers food.
In an effort to modulate his weight gain, we've started managing feed time and stashing the grazers extra food in a drawer in a bureau in the sunroom where they eat. Mr. Gorger is not happy and misses his extra kitty snax and keeps trying to snarf down as soon as the grazer leaves his bowl.
The grazer is different. Love to play wit h 2 different plush toys of my daughters. Spends hours tossing them around and chomping on them, doing the kitty kick thing and throwing them up in the air. He also loves to swat bottle caps around the floor. He'll play catch even. He's obsessed with water going down the drain and will come into any room with draining water and look at it, then look back at the person in the room as if to say " wow, did you see that. check this out. where does it go?" He's fallen in the toilet a couple of times.
So yesterday, I hear something in the sun room, sounds like a cat eating. On inspection, I see that the grazer has opened the drawer where we stashed his food and is happily crunching away. I watched him do it again today where he goes around the back of the cabinets and pushes the drawer open to eat some more.
I've had a lot of cats, one was dog like when I was in high school and use to follow me around and always came on call. He got run over one day following me down to the university where I took calculus.
But this one has struck a new level of intelligence and personality. My son calls him Einstein.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

My GF has two sister cats - one is a grazer and one is a gorger like yours. Vet said the gorger HAD to lose weight so she got one of those chip activated feed dishes and it's worked wonders. Gorger is hangry a lot of the time but at last weigh-in at the vets she was down 2lbs! Vet was very please but said she had another 1lb to go. Poor fat girl!

Weggies get big, mine was 18lbs and that was a tad under weight. Lot of fur however. Great disposition, he was like a catdog. Miss that guy.

My Kitteh is no Einstein. She outsmarts herself daily. Today's terrifying adventure is also a PSA. Don't prop open the cooler using the handles in order to let it dry. It makes a great cat trap. Fortunately I was in the kitchen as it was going down. A hinged lid seemed so convenient before we had a kitteh.
She is smart enough to climb on the toilet. To get to the shelf. That has the box of Q-tips. Knocking it off the shelf is the easy way to get at the cool toys inside it. They are fun to bat around on the floor. The latest box of them is opaque and slides closed, problem solved for now. She doesn't know they are in there yet.
The dilemma is do we leave the toilet open or close it? If it is closed it is easier to climb on and therefore provides easier access to the shelf. If we leave it open she might knock stuff into it. She is getting on the shelves no matter what. We need the space so removing the shelves isn't optimal. Changing what is stored there is a nonstarter with certain other parties.
She also just figured out she can jump onto the kitchen counters. Storage of stuff in inaccessible places is going to pose a problem because my 92 yo father in law stays with us a lot. If he can reach it then so can kitteh. See above.
