Oh Buster... this is the kitty I saw at PetSmart the other day:
Rue 6 months old is just the cutest, sweetest baby. She is the runt of her litter and the only girl, so she's very spoiled. She's very curious and playful. She likes to cuddle, but on her own terms. She likes string toys, but her favorite are small soft toys she can carry around. She can act possessive over toys, but she is only playing. She gets along great with her siblings and older foster brother, Lucca. She occasionally likes to harass her siblings (Lucca included), so she might not get along with a high-strung cat or dog. Rue has silvery-grey fur and looks like a little Russian Blue.
Rue has never met a child or dog.
Home recommendation:
- Someone to cuddle with
- A playmate (possibly a sibling) that can keep up with her

I emailed them yesterday, right after you'd mentioned it and they responded that a gray kitten had been adopted or claimed.

Hi B,
We only have one gray kitten at the moment, and she's pre-adopted. We never know who will cross into our care though, so please feel free to visit our adoption center at the Walla Walla Petsmart as often as you'd like, to see if anyone steals your heart.

That would be the one but the post with her in it popped up today on a local pet site. Posted 4hrs ago. Maybe the person who posted didn't know she was pre-adopted? I just DM'd her. Will update with what she says.
UPDATE: Okay... woman says she just posts for Silver Cloud (they operate with an army of volunteers) and doesn't know about the status of individual adoptions.“When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. We just went through the process of adopting a cat and looked at shelters that were up to a 2-3 hrs drive from our home.
I found the ones that had a home visit requirements were a bit more laid back about it if I emailed them first, explained our interest in specific cat/cats, noted their home visit requirement, and offered to do a virtual tour via video chat since we were so far away.
Both of the ones we ultimately visited waved the requirement entirely.

For Buster and anyone else introducing new cats into their home where you have an existing cat or if your cat starts becoming insecure about strays in the yard (this is my situation) try Feliway. I've had really good results with it.
I put one upstairs in the laundry where I feed and have litter boxes and one downstairs in the front room where the cats like to sit on the window seat and look out. It has done the trick to calm my one male who gets worked up to the point of piddling outside his box when he sees strays in the yard.

Festus & Wilma fortunately don't need Feliway, but I have had luck using a similar product.

Feliway (or some other product) might help your lone kitty now Buster.

I've been using Feliway (the spray as well as the Multicat diffuser) and unfortunately not really seeing any changes.
Young Timmy is hell bent on attacking senior Toki any chance he gets. At first we chalked it up to him being a wild ass kitten, but now after he's been neutered he still goes after her. Viscously.
I have tried calming chews with him and they seem to help a bit, but it's still a struggle. When we leave the house we have to physically separate them for Toki's sake, but I know at the same time that sets us back in terms of their bonding.
EDIT - I'm aware not all cats respond to it, so there is that..

Thanks KQ, he's not hysterical and is super tidy in general, but he's always been pretty aloof and quiet.
The change is he's now constantly demanding attention, but he hates to be held, so he just meows a lot and is stalking around sniffing the cat carriers and looking around.
He loves to play string games, so I'm doing that a lot. He used to love to swat bottlecaps and play by himself, but that seems to have diminished as well. He does seem to like being carried to his food with great ceremony and rumffling and even purrs for a few seconds, also far from the old norm. He still can't really keep his mind on eating and wanders away after a few bites like he always did.
When I take something on, I'm going to give it the all (see Full Contact Parenting), so I don't really mind the demands to play chase the string or swat the string from the box. It's just that it's different from how he was before.
We're still looking, but my daughter wants to see the cat before we take it on, so while I really appreciate Djongos offer, I can't do it until the committee here changes their mind.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski
