Classic cat pile. Social critters until they decide they've had it then it's all hissing and claws...

I bought a bag of Crave expensive cat food from the closeout shelf at Safeway. I haven't had much luck getting cats to eat natural. Chao won't eat wet food so he's been getting fancy feast dry. Never has a cat turned his nose up at fancy feast dry. I mixed it with the FF at 3-1 Crave. Chao looks great. His fur is shiny and strong. He gained some weight but he'll adapt. I wouldn't have mentioned it but Chao is mentally unstable and after about a week eating this food his demeanor is noticeably changed. He's more calm and not as obsessed with water.

    Crave=kitty crack

I feed my old girl Alice (no... she's hasn't gone yet, still hanging on) Crave pate which she eats with wild abandon. She is constantly hounding me for more... more... MORE!

The M-series kittens are always trying to steal a bit off Alice's plate.

Solid work there. Nice looking cat.

Chao at 4am loafing on his lawn. He is 80% outdoor cat now. Would go to 100% but Square Face likes the yard too and we like having Square Face around.

Square Face takes stuff home on queue. We give him toy mice to steal. He runs away ears ticked. He’s here ever day.

    Thanks Mau,

Just do the best we can with him. He has given his tail some dirty looks recently but passed. I think the core of the problem was skin irritation and tail biting was the end result. Flea medicine and skin oil really helped. Once we got all the eczema cleared up it was just hoping he would calm down. He’s a happy cat most of the time but still has an ocd way about him. He looks good.

The intruder cat scared him today so he was cowered in his box digging in. You can see his worried look. He is still not 100% secure in his home.

He still prefers out though and is happier when he can have outside access.

Man he does look panicked in the picture. Hopefully his demons don't get a hold of him again...

Chao not a fighter. Square Face just wants to wrestle as much as anything. No blood after a couple months dancing. We like Square Face

Here is Square Face stealing a toy. We set this up but this is 4th item gone over the fence to his lair. He usually runs in the house to grab stuff. He really wanted that feather.

What do you guys & ladies think? We have the two big dogs and we adopted a cat that was advertised as good with dogs and she is great. My wife would like to adopt a second cat. Our current kitty is so docile, I am afraid another cat may punk the shit out of her, as our previous cat would not tolerate other cats anywhere close to her territory. How to figure this out and get a feel that the cats will be nice to each other?

IME you can’t tell until you try. Maybe borrow a neighbor’s cat, or some other trial cat situation. Sometimes cats just don’t like a given cat but they’re cool with a different one.

Chance of two adult cats from different enviro getting long well is slim in my experience. At best they might tolerate each other. Get a kitten if you want a better chance.

Yup. Kitten will be non-confrontational and easily roll with the punches without resorting to spraying/marking. With a kitten you are really only dealing with one cat adjusting not two. Also you can try this:

Feliway 30 Day Starter Kit Plug-In Diffuser & Refill, 48-mL

I deal with this on a daily basis but with three (see posts up thread). Makes it hard to get up in the morning when you're surrounded by warm furry-purry bodies.

Boy, you've got it coming and going with a long-haired black and white. Can't win for losing - white hair on your dark stuff and black on your light. I've often thought I would only have black cats and dark furnishings and wear dark clothes.
