24 hours later, still in The Grotto.

Ugly does something similar with heat vents. I wake up at 5am pretty much every day, probably cause that's when the furnace kicks on and it's fairly loud, go to the bathroom, and he's sitting on the heat vent. Looks like he walk in, pushes the door almost all the way closed, then camps on the vent and waits for the room and his ass to heat up. As soon as we're up and he's fed he crawls under the covers of our bed. It's a 10 minutes process for him to burrow to a satisfactory spot but once he's in there is no movement until dinner time. After which time he moves to his domed heated bed, which he leaves around 5am for this favorite vent, rinse and repeat.

Poor Ugly is getting a lot of attention from mini Miss Boissal lately since the dog is gone for a couple of weeks. Her attentions are particularly gentle despite all our best efforts to convince her to use soft hands. Ugly is so loving he keeps coming back from more but half the time she grabs a handful of fur of just smooshes him to the ground. He's definitely been doing better now that he's on a injectable med for arthritis but 15 is getting pretty long in the tooth for a former stray...

Rosie follows the sun from sunrise to mid PM


Took about three months for her to start hanging with us during daylight hours. Now she sleeps between us on the bed, and is quite vocal letting us know it’s time to eat.

We’ve broken her of only drinking out of a running bathroom faucet


by putting an electric cat fountain next to the sink.
She is getting us trained…

Before he passed away our diabetic wonder cat Coco got a plug in heated cat bed that turned on when he laid down on it. He was a fan.

When we first moved into this house I put the printer box and his favorite pillow in the windowsill so he could supervise the unpacking and watch the neighbors - that ugly carboard box and pillow then stayed there for years.
