In other news, his shagginess Ugly had his unofficial 14th bday vet visit a couple weeks back. Kidney issues are stable since diagnosis 2 years ago. He's thin but not losing weight, vet isn't concerned. His arthritis is bad though and she put him on a fancy treatment I was afraid would cost thousands but turned out to be somewhat reasonable. Yesterday I watched him jump on and off a chair then on my desk. He looks significantly more spry and is a lot more active. Hopefully we keep his issues under control and he sticks around for a bunch more years. I just need to teach the child "soft hands" because she really likes him but plays with his old ass the way she plays with the dog: rough.
Speaking as a parent of three adult children, you need a shock collar for advanced training. I wish I had been allowed to use one. Not for the cat or dog.

    Congrats BobMc!

After a two year hiatus, we also have a new furkid.
This is Rosie, an 8yo 15lb tuxedo. We got her from a neighbor that can no longer care for her like she deserves. Total indoor cat as coyotes & cougars roam our ‘hood.

Shitty photos so far, as she currently works the 9pm to 6am shift.

She does hang around Ms TBS’ desk in the AM, staying near the fan outlets on her computing gear.

She insists I turn on the faucet any time I’m in the bathroom.

She tells me what a fuckup I am if she shows up and the faucet is not running. It’s also kinda hard to brush my teeth around her hydration needs.
    She’s getting me trained.

And I bet if you close the bathroom door, Rosie will also complain. You're teeth are going to rot right out of your head!

Yup, she butts the door and sings a song of protest if she can’t get in.
And since I’m usually up before Ms TBS, the commotion causes her to get up and open the door.
And two females are pissed at me.
    Better to work around her.

Cats love moving water. They don’t like that standing water with bacteria.

    Anyone use these? https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%80%9020...8&gad_source=1

    I’ll be ordering soon.

Yup, we have that exact fountain
Rosie may use it during the night after we are asleep

Yeah - our old cat likes the fountain, but the new(er) kitteh prefers the faucet. It's a PITA, yet I always do it...

Ugly will only drink out of his fountain or random puddles. You could give him the purest holy water in a gold dish and he'd just flick the water out with his paw and make as big a mess as he can.
The only issue with the fountain is how often it needs to be cleaned because he constantly paws at the water. It's certainly helping his kidney issues though, he's drinking a lot more now.

Ugly can not drink holy water. He will combust instantaneously.

That's why he's always pawing at the water, testing it to make sure I'm not exorcising his furry ass. Worst it could do is remove some of his fur but his paws are so scraggly you probably couldn't tell the difference...

Wife bought a cat house, set it out in the garden. Momma cat likes laying on top of it. She’s becoming used to my 12yo and the wife. Comes running when they bring the food..

My son picked her up today, which leads me to believe she’s a stray and not feral. One of my employees took one of the kitties, it’s adjusting well at their house. The other two kitties run behind the neighbors fence when we go out there. Mom comes running but the kitties go the other way.

I’m pretty sure Mom is still coming into our house at night, our idiot dog goes bolting off our bed in the middle of the night at times. It’s not normal behavior for her so I’m sure she’s sensing something.

Once we’ve gotten friendly enough with her we plan on finding out and having her fixed either way.

What I’m getting at is she may have another set of humans that are looking for her. The way your son is holding her tells me she is pretty used to humans.

I finally had time to make the long drive to Daphne, AL to pick this little girl up. My stepsister acquired her through the Universal Cat Distribution System and knew we were looking for a new family member. After pushing the trip off twice we put the hammer down and did the deal. Her name is Aspen and is a Siamese mix. She rode most of the way home using Mrs. H as a recliner and used her vantage point to check out all of the cool cars and trucks. She has been up since 4 AM rampaging throughout the house.
