We had to say goodbye to our little buddy Horatio on Monday. He seemed great up to the middle of last week. On Friday morning I noticed he stayed in his cat bed when everyone was up and at em, which was unusual. He seemed lethargic and feverish Friday evening and night and would not eat anything but a little bit of Turkey.
On Saturday his lethargy worsened and I called the Vet. He was not eating or drinking and not using the cat box at all. Got blood work and urine tested on Sunday and it was the only time he moved all day. We got the test results on Monday afternoon. His liver and kidneys had basically shut down and the vet said he had next to no chance of surviving even with aggressive treatment.
My 13 yr old daughter held him throughout the process. She was a champ despite being hartbroken. Horatio was only 6. It was shocking how stoic he was, as he must have been ill and did not show it.
I never liked cats and argued against getting one. This little guy changed my mind and is greatly missed.
A few pics of Horatio. The picture with his brother and sister was just over a week ago. The picture of him with my son was on Monday, the first time he moved all day was to climb onto his boy's chest and nuzzle him one last time.
RIP Horatio.
