    Go Toyota.

I don't know why, but it makes me very happy that this year's car reminds me a ton of the GT-One from 20 years ago.

Doesn't look like it will be broken this year provisional pole is about three seconds off last I saw.

I think they've changed the LMP1 regs. Lower fuel rate or megajoule use per lap?

Not sure. Just grabbed the image off the first site I found. Certainly looks like it could be.

The link info says "Monterrey Historics", so I assume it is. Last time I was there the curbs were blue though.

^ Exactly what I was looking at. Current curb paint is blue and white but I found some early '90s pictures that show red and white. No idea when they switched over.

The FIA World Endurance Championship has revealed more details for its 2020 LMP1 successor in its presentation of provisional new rules for the category.

The WEC has yet to formally name the top-class tier that will be introduced for 2020 with the regulations set to be finalised in November.

The championship has revealed that the new category will revolve around “hypercars, supercars, luxury GTs or concept cars” which will make the machines immediately identifiable to a marque.

Manufacturer design must take “precedence” over aerodynamics, with efficient aerodynamics set to be mostly generated from the underbody of the car.

Cost cutting was a key point of the presentation, although specific numbers were not revealed beyond reaffirming that costs will be a quarter of “recent” LMP1 budgets.

The one video feed comes from the circuit cameras and their in car cameras.

Toyota, Porsche and Audi were each spending hundreds of millions a year.

Porsche and Audi have quit. Toyota probably will now too.

Getting car manufacturers back is vital. Ferrari, McLaren, Aston, Porsche and others are all on board for new hypercar formula.

Great night drive by Alonso for the win.

Some of the comments reminds me of the days when Dad would take us to Watkins Glen for the 24 hour races. GT/GTP cars racing all night...the almost stock class being held together with duct tape. In the lesser class races we would get to go to the pit roof boxes and watch over the rail. Getting up 2 or 3 am in the dark and wandering around through the garages.

Almost no spectators up and around. Cars spread out all around the track. Slow classes getting their asses reamed as the GTP cars bolt up their exhaust pipes...

Gives me goose bumps and brings tears to my eyes...so damn cool.
