Awesome TR!
Kellie, are those rafts a special kind, or just smaller whitewater rafts? Because I could think of a lot of great places to use those for bike/float or hike/float trips around here.
How much do those little suckers weigh?

Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

The rafts are specialized for backcountry travel and weigh 4-6 pounds. They are truly incredible in their durability and ease of use. Check them out here, and visit their forum if you want to see more of the trips folks are doing with them.

Boy do I feel like an A hole for posting this up as a link earlier Kellie, you did us all a favor by posting up a good (yet short) story of a full on summer epic. I agree with others that adventures like this should be shared beyond internet forums. Good luck and thanks

Mountain Biking
If you're driving across a lake of ice, and slam on the brakes, does your car stop? If you're riding a bicycle down a mountain of packed snow and ice, and slam on the brakes, does your bike stop? What happens in both circumstances is you lose any control you had. The bike and car keep on going.

Jesus.
You know it's interesting that even though I know for a fact that I would be miserable the entire time, you have a way of making me think I would enjoy something like that.
