    Last weekend they were calling for 25 foot swells off of Astoria and Cape Flattery. Shit, even in Haro Strait you could have surfed the wind waves...they were approaching 6 feet! Nevermind the brutal death beach break onto rock and the sloppy closeouts... but if you could somehow have made it out into the strait and stood up you could have surfed for miles...

    I know since I was surfing in my 19' Whaler coming back from Port Townsend. Had worse conditions in Admiralty Inlet the day before too... And even today I was rallying in my Circum-SanJuans survey. Poundpoundpoundsucks bigtime until you turn a bit and then it's surfsurfsurf! It's actually the closest thing to skiing I've come across... pick your line and aim for the transitions when you catch air or it's gonna hurt.
