    Viewing an LCD screen outdoors

Is there some sort of screen or something to put over an LCD monitor to help with outdoor viewing? Or, do you just need a really bright screen?

You need to do what view camera photographers have been doing for years - use a dark cloth.

There are hoods that can help, basically a 3 sided shield that is long enough to cut the direct sunlight. They may need to be removed if it is a portable device like a laptop or cell phone/pda when being transported.

Otherwise there are also flat screens that can help- sort of like looking through a dark nylon type cloth material. Polaroid, 3M and a few others are the companies to check with to see if they have a solution for you.

Are we talking the LCD screen on digicams that have no view finder? I know there is a problem with those in the sunlight. Having a simple solution would open up a much wider selection of cameras.
    No longer stuck.
