TR: EXTREME MEGA GNAR!!!! tux TR

I spent thursday night through sunday up at tux skiing various stuff with allenataylor, backcountryben, and soul_skier. All the pictures are jumbled and out of order so rather than doing this "Dear Diary.." style in chronological order with a story for each one, I'm just going to do it warren miller style with some lifestyle shots up front, followed by some gaper crashes, and then some actual skiing pictures.

    Lifestyle:

all food was meat, cooked with bacon, or had bacon greese dumped on it.

yes, that is a burger being deep fried in bacon grease

    the final product:

    soul_skier was stoaked on bacon

(those beautiful cooking hands belong to yours truly)

in continuing with this spectaularly out of order TR, allen and soul longboarded a bigass hill on the way home

last stop on the way home was the lunch buffet at the HOUSE OF TANG

its in vt's capital right on rt 2, i highly recomend it. Who would want to take taekwondo at "gentle dragon"?

    GAPER SHOTS:

the air guard decided to do a flyby on sat morning

    ouch

    Now some actual skiing:
    soul on dodges

me, opening it up for my first straightline of the weekend.

    happy to have survived

wes, first run in the bowl

    no turning

soul, also happy to be alive

    soul flying again

EVERYONE LOOK AT ME, I'M GOING FAST (soul)

    EVERYONE LOOK AT ME (allen)

    me

pink haired tele dude had some huge falls and spectacular saves all day
    going airborne

    and eating shit

Who is that guy in all orange making SG turns across 3ft deep runnels? oh, gpetrics of course

    gpetrics

    pink hair again

    soul_skier - IT'S GOOD!!!

allen dropping out of the diagonal line

I jokingly threatened to ski a bunch of the lines that gpetrics skied in his last TR naked, one of them was dodges. I didn't quite have the balls for full on dudity, but i did ski dodges in just boxers and a fullface.

    allen jumped into dodges

    allen lower down in dodges

me dropping into my last top speed line of the weekend

this line got fairly exciting because i had to cut across a bunch of runnels at top speed in order to hit the clear runout, all went according to plan though.
gpetrics dropping into the line that i warmed up for on the weekend, its a really really fun line with a mandatory first turn at high speed on some very steep snow.

random guy hucking the big one - he ate it really really hard in the runout

soul_skier opening it up for his last straightline of the weekend after hitting the cliff thats behind him

We all had a great weekend up there partying and camping in luxury and skiing some great lines. Friday the bowl was in great condition for all the high speed technical stuff we came to ski, by saturday afternoon though it was pretty destroyed.

Sorry for the sub-par quality of this TR. I'm in a bit of a work crunch as we approach finals week at UVM but I wanted to get the pictures up while they were still relevant. If soul or allen want to add their accounts of the weekend, I'm sure they will, there were certainly some very good stories. We all survived the weekend unharmed without so much as a fall from any of us. It went so well that I didn't even get that badly sunburned.

    thanks for looking,

    Sam

S'okay. Saw it in person top to bottom. You guys skied past us as we were booting up the bottom of Hillmans. Nice work. We hit it after you guys and saw no one else in there the rest of the day. Whats your opinion of Duchess vs. Dodge's?

i personally thought that they were both overrated. Dodges would have been more fun if you could carry any speed at all, but you had to constantly jump turn and kill speed to avoid the slough runnel and the chokes. All the fun of the steep entrance was gone in like 20 feet. The hardest part about duchess was finding it from the top, it was very skiable and a lot more fun than dodges in my opinion (less jump-turning/speed killing). Duchess looks a lot worse than it actually is.

Awesome TR. I was up there on Sat. too....incredible day. I hate to fuck up your thread, but I got a pretty decent video of "Snowtube Guy." You can view it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otavTP0gyvk#GU5U2spHI_4

Steep is steep, and those runs are steep, but yea; once I was in Duchess it didn't seem too bad at all. Fun turns though. You're making me wish I had gone for Dodge's.

edit: If your going to be on the East coast for a couple more years you should get on to some tele's for the added challenge. Then, when you go back to alpines you'll feel all the more empowered and kill it all the more.

Oh, and props for the house of Tang shot. I stopped for Mai Tai's there a couple of years ago. Saw the sign and had to turn around.

My dad and little sister were up there this weekend and said there were a bunch of people sending it. Pretty damn burly in those conditions.

    Looks like an awesome time.

Well done. You guys going back up this weekend?
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.
