are you "Front Range riff-raff?"
Check it.
Accurately quoted statements attributed to Vail Chamber and Business Association Executive Director Kaye Ferry regarding the impact of more Front Range skiers buying Vail Resorts’ new Epic Pass touched off a firestorm of negative reaction in mainstream media outlets around the state.
In a story posted on www.coloadoconfidential.com and later on www.realvail.com on April 8, Ferry said any increase in Front Range skiers resulting from the new, unrestricted $579 season pass would cause overcrowding and therefore skier safety issues.
“They're paying $2,500 a night for a room, and then they're fearing for the lives of their grandkids when they going skiing over Christmas,” Ferry said of Vail’s traditionally upscale, destination clientele.
“Throughout the history of (Vail) we have appealed to exclusivity. The only people we let up there during Christmas are the ones with the big homes and their ski instructors. We had eliminated the Front Range riff-raff, and all of a sudden we're selling a pass that's to the masses.”

A lot that used to be free became paid parking in Keystone a few years back. I was lamenting this fact to the old parking attendant. His response was that "we'll be better off when you ski bums like you are priced out." That led to a short but exciting conversation resulting in profuse apologies by the parking attendant.

^^ I second that. He is angry because, I am guessing, just like his "upscale clientele" he does not possess the ability to ski.

Woops, Summit posted while I was typing, I second squatch. We are not riff raff, do not lower us to that level, we are slightly higher than that, we are Douchebags

i think the term "hoi palloi" would have been a better term than "riff raff" It goes much better with the excusivity theme.

Vail Town Council and the Mayor of Vail called for her head over this... looks like they got it served up. Ms. Ferry resigned her Executive Director position today.

Perhaps a 12/27-9 Summit in Vail...?
Shut your eyes and think of somewhere. Somewhere cold and caked with snow.

If I remember correctly- wasn't it that selling cheap passes to the Front Range Riff-Raff is what saved the ski areas butts over the last few years. The millions that came from these passes in two months in the fall helped a great deal with operations costs, and no one was complaining at the revenue. Can't bite the hand that feeds you, if if you don't want to talk about it.

let's do the time warp again....
It's astounding, time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely, not for very much longer
I've got to keep control
I remember doing the TIme Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me and the void would be calling
Let's do the time warp again...
Let's do the time warp again!
It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let's do the Time Warp again!
It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me
So you can't see me, no not at all
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention
Well-secluded, I see all
With a bit of a mind flip
You're there in the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
You're spaced out on sensation, like you're under sedation
Let's do the Time Warp again!
Well I was walking down the street just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink
He shook me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pickup truck and the devil's eyes.
He stared at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again
Let's do the Time Warp again!

I hate it when those assholes from up there come down to go to Rockies games. They should really do something about it.

Someone at vail finally realized its crowded there?
They're trying to do what Aspen has done, less customers that spend more money, which makes the super rich happier because they don't have to deal with all the lowly riff raff.
It will never work for Vail though. Aspen only manages this because its location is far enough away from population centers that it doesn't get the weekend warrior crowd, Vail is just going to have to raise their prices and charge you for every little thing, and no rich people are going to deal with that when they could just go somewhere else.
Such a setup is sweet for the locals though,
rich customers who spend lots of money but mostly just sit inside
+
Management that knows how to cater to the "luxury" crowd, but also knows how to spend $ on high speed lifts, opening new terrain, and getting awesome patrol staff
=
Paradise for real skiers, if you can get a pass.__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________________

This just in: the epic pass has officially ruined Vail.
I suggest grumpy locals should get the fuck over it
