    this weekend

60's called for this weekend, pretty high lows around Bozeman. The weather guy actually warned to keep kids away from small creeks. I'll be hitting The Gally if over 500, or Beartrap canyon if over 1500, assuming MTcham and BBridgekid are up for it.

C'mon over to the Columbia River Gorge next weekend for the Little White Salmon race. Should be a good time. April 19-20. Time trials on Saturday. Other racing on Sunday. Only 8 hours from the MT border.

Or better yet, come on out this weekend for the Canyon Creek Race. Should be a mighty fine time, and a wee more realistic after a winter out of the boat.

yeah, we were in Hood River a week and a half ago. It snowed, and it was cold as a mofo. One friend and I beat everyone else there on Friday, and chickened out on the Farmlands because of the 6" of snow and no boating for 6 months, and ran the Husum section.

We ran the Truss on Saturday...it was killer. Too cold for photos...but I will never forget the 2.5 seconds when I was lied to about Double Drop and ran it completely blind. That run is definitely way up there in terms of pure quality.

I really really really wanted to paddle the Little White with the rest of the crew on Sunday, but I tweaked my shoulder the day before and had a massive sand infestation anyways. Maybe after more than two days in the boat.

Glad you made it on the Truss. We've had some colder days around here this March, you were definitely here for some of them. Here' some Truss Raft action from February.

Damn J. I'll probably be hold for most of the season with this knee thing. Its starting to feel a lot better, but I'm not going to be able to trust'er for a while still I'm afraid. BUmmmer man. It looks like I might be missing out on not only the best winter in awhile but also a damn pumping runoff.

When will you be able to squeeze in your boat? The Lochsa will easily run well into July this year.

We're closing on a house in Missoula on the 21st of this month...I'll definitely be up for some mountain biking later this summer...I'll need to get in shape for the bowl this year.

Ya, that's a buddy of mine. He mainly kayaks but likes to get his shred on. He's taken his newb girlfriend down Robe Canyon in it which is pretty ballsy.

Yonder, glad to see you still boating with moving strainers. That is some sweet footage.

That run looks amazing....The last part of the video went blank on me, did the rafts run that last big drop?

Hey D, On occasion I'm on the river with some rubber, but most of the time that's pretty rare. He want's me to race this weekend in the Shredder with him on Canyon Creek, but I have no raft skills and, ya know I'm not too big a fan of swimming. I think you would dig it though.

That blank at the end was intentional. The last drop was Spirit Falls on another creek, the Little White Salmon. I haven't got on it yet, but it's a serious drop, with a nasty cave, huge funky boils and is evidentally a terrible place to swim due to the next drop immediately after that.

Yeah, but only 5 people have broken their backs there, so it's obviously pretty easy. And safe.

And only like 8 people have had near death experiences in Chaos after swimming out of Spirit.

    Like I said...cake.

Yeah. Being blown behind the curtain is a tad freaky. You are in your own little world back there. When you finally get it figured out (that you have to paddle back out through the curtain) the pucker factor goes up another notch...especially when you get blown back behind the curtain by the boils. Eventually, you can make it out...

That doesn't have anything to do with breaking your back though...

hohoho, just wait. The Bitterroots have the highest snow water equivalent in Montana, and way up there in ID, too. That ain't nothin.

There is going to be a long period where all the class V is way too high this year. That's the downside of Montana not having any class IV at regular water....it gets hard to find super fun stuff at high water. Good think the Lochsa is right there.

Have fun out there, looks like we're all done for the year with the exception of dam release and hurricanes.
