What is the expectation for people who own the now banned rifles.? There must be north of a million of them in Canada.

I did not spend much time searching, but did not see wht is supposted to happen to existing banned guns.

Haven't spent much time researching, but my initial understanding is that you have until 2022 to dispose/sell or get a special permit to keep them (some kind of collectors license, not sure if that means some sort of deactivation). Use of the listed firearms is to stop immediately however, whether that means the range, or some form of hunting purpose.

Might be a good time for you US gun lovers to get a great deal on some now prohibited Canadian firearms.

Oh, and handgun are already heavily regulated and require a restricted license. There is supposed to be federal legislation tabled that would empower individual municipalities to locally ban handguns within their jurisdiction. I have no idea how that one will play out, but will likely be a real clusterfuck.

My opinion about this particular legislation aside, none of the firearms that asshole used were obtained legally. And he was dressed as a cop, and had his vehicle spec'd out to look like a police cruiser. That fucker was out to hurt someone no matter what he ended using as a weapon.

The hand guard should be held on by just on tension clip and a lip under the gas block. Seems like if the new guard fits the old stock, then the old guard would fit the new stock. YouTube the breakdown and use the official Ruger vid. Hope that helps.

That could not have been easier - this gun is going to be a blast.

Majority of 2A people I've seen are carrying 50lbs of fat and breakout in hives if they have to wear a mask. Good luck with that.

re: the Canadian ban, all the laws are already in place, all they have to do is enforce them. Put the criminals in jail and keep them there, quit plea bargaining away the firearms offences when dudes break the frikkin law. Of course that won't stop the stewards of the environment from smuggling whatever the bad guys want across the border at Kahnawake or whatever first nation crosses the border in your area.

Please do yourself a favor and buy a holster. Being a small SAO pistol, I have to assume you carry it cocked and locked. Would suck to have body movement or something else move your safety and then have something get stuck in the trigger guard. I usually only carry mine in the summer with shorts, and have a crossbreed supertuck iwb kydex holster that works for me.

Just my advice for the $0.02 it's worth.

    Got a Sig P320 X5 Legion in 9mm.

It is worth the hype...ridiculously fun to shoot. I also have a P320 in .45ACP which is great, but the X5 Legion is like driving a Ferrari.

Anyone carrying a 10MM for a woods gun and do you have a mounted light on it? If so, any suggestions for a model?

I drew Wyoming Unit 51 for elk archery and picked up a Glock 20 to carry with bear spray. I am trying to determine if a mounted light would be beneficial. If hiking out or in when it is dark out, I imagine I would strap my bow to my pack to have two hands free, but could certainly see the benefit of a combined unit.

Also, I am not planning on upgrading the barrel to be able to shoot the hardened rounds. Is the Underwood Xtreme Penetrator my best 10MM option?

Yes, but it doesn't have a very long beam or focus, which is partly why I was thinking of something with a more focused light versus a flood light would be best. I don't have any experience with gun lights to know which are more focused long beams and which are flood type lights for lighting up a room in a defense situation, etc.

    Thanks

Personally, I'd go with bear spray. Your guide will have a sidearm and unless you are pretty versed at shooting moving targets in the dark, you're going to do more harm than good.

I will not have a guide, and as mentioned, I will also have bear spray. Any mounted light suggestions?

My bad. I thought 51 was guided only. I have a Streamlight TLR-1 light on my P320 .45acp and it's heavy as shit. That said, they're almost all "spot light" oriented and not so much flood light style, and you can adjust the beam on many of them. They're powerful lights for their size. And I know you mentioned it, but I've never heard of anyone carrying both bear spray and a sidearm. You going akimbo on that shit?

Unit 51 is east of the park and west of Cody. For non-residents, you cannot hunt the wilderness area without a guide, however, there is plenty of woods still to hunt. I believe this is the unit Uptain was attacked in and this spring, someone shed hunting was attacked in one of the drainages we will be hunting. It is legit grizz country.

Bear spray is extremely light and easy to carry, so no reason not to have it. A pistol in this type of area, when many many miles back has a lot of use when you are bow hunting. My hunting partner will also be carrying spray and a 10MM.

What do you do after your bear spray is gone? What if you fall on it and break something, or what if a lion stalks you? I don't typically carry a gun during archery in Colorado or New Mexico, but this unit is a bit different and I see no reason not to have both (other then weight).
