So once you SBR the gun with the brace, through this special period, can you then put a proper stick on it? Or does this only apply to the brace?

Once you register a lower with the ATF as a SBR, then you can put what ever stock or upper you want on the gun.

The brace is no longer necessary as it's not considered a brace anymore. Theyre stocks now.

Right, but is this special program actually registering the lower or the brace?

It's registering the lower and it's serial number. Uppers and braces don't have serial numbers.

It's the same process and wait time as normal, the ATF is just waiving the $200.00 tax stamp fee.

I'm registering two lowers. I already have 7 Class 3 items. What's another two?

On another topic. Can someone recommend a good spotting scope that can reach out to 500 yards?

Spotter or range finder? And by reach out, what do you need to see? 500 yards is pretty short for a spotter. Almost any of them can handle that..., I.e. count times on an elk or deer or see impact on a target.

I'm pretty excited to get some time behind my new Tikka T1X. Once things are a bit warmer I'm going to figure out what ammo shoots the best through it and will then buy quite a bit.

Plus this will be fun carting around for grouse hunting in the fall. Click image for larger version.

Just need to see where my shots are landing on a target anywhere from 200-500 yards.

For you my brother, I don't think anything less than Swaro 115 BTX will do if you want to pick out the difference between tight groups downrange, and 1-hole groups downrange.
And with the strong dollar, you can pick one up for the price of a decent wax rig.

For tripods, a Benro or Manfrotto CF model with a Majestic geared head will keep your glass rock solid.

Somebody find a better version of this and come back with a trail report please.
I'm thinking it could be way better for way less than a spotting scope.

This has a max 300 yard range.

Can confirm - these things are awesome. Watching contrails as a bullet arcs into a target is awesome.

I'm not a fan of the cheap 60x spotters. I find a decent 40x, like a Leupold Mk4, will let you see more. Price no object, Swaro 15 will decimate all.

*edit* A reticle in a spotting scope is wonderful. A first focal plane reticle is better.

The tgrs is not really a target audience for gun items.

But what the heck, pull that trigger.
