Would you like to try again?
You got me. I thought it was a m76. 8mm and 7.62x54r are close is muzzle velocity but the 8mm I think is heavier?

I made a call. Lonnie (he died a few years back) was a class 2 ffl and made a ton of odd ball stuff. This was a one off he did. It was a 16" 7.62 x 54r but not a vepr, rpk or zastava. Maybe it was psl parts kit Frankenstein-ed together.

It had common russian style ak wood furniture and looked somewhat like yours. Your handguard, grip, stock and barrel were a little different.

I guess they weren't that close.

This would be closer but not it either. It was using a mag much closer to yours.

Had a really fun day at the range.

Put my new Odin Works can on my Savage A22. It was unbelievably fun shooting that little pecker. Really tight groups at 50 yards. The first time I pulled the trigger, I was sincerely unsure if it had fired. Really fun little plinker.

Also got my 5.56 dialed in with the Sig Echo3 thermal optic on it, combined with a SOCOM can. Used hand warmers to get it sighted in. The annual coyote war started last night on the property when one of those little bastards tried to lure my dog in. Death Waits in the Dark!

    Figured TGR would like this:

    DO THE HK SLAP

A homoerotic techno song about 3d printed MP5s is something I didn't know I needed.

If this guy did a Patreon to make a techno album, I would support him

Unfortunately as a California guy, I can’t play with 95% of the gun featured in this thread…

What I can pick up is a new deer rifle. I’m looking for a classic bolt action, likely chambered in .270 for nostalgia’s sake. I’m not overly concerned about weight and likely will never shoot beyond 350 yards. The goal is accuracy and a rifle that will be just as great for my kids and beyond.

Lots of good options out there!

.243 if youth will be shooting it too, or 6.5 if you want to go with a new cartridge, but can’t go wrong with the .270 or .308.

How much do you want to spend?

For out of the box quality and accuracy, I'd say Tikka T3x Lite in 6.5 Creedmoor. Mount a decent Vortex or Maven on that thing with appropriate magnification (can't really go wrong at ~15x) and then buy a few boxes of Hornady ELD-X in 143g.

That setup will be nearly as accurate as a custom rifle and handloads and you'll spend maybe $2000?

Probably right, but if not, my license/ability to walk around freely is at stake. Pass.
