Talking 3/14/08 Winter Park SUCKS! POV evidence!

One of my first days ever skiing at Winter Park, an older gentleman on the chairlift told me that this was the place to go apeshit. I wasn't sure what he meant, or if he was right, but I was optimistic and excited since i had bought a season pass here. It took awhile, but eventually I had discovered what he meant.

This video is straight up wp tree skiing. No cool big mountain lines or anything.
    16" at WP

I apologize about the flat light, the white spots, and the jerky filming. My first helmet cam footy and attempt at editing which got frustrating.
    TR-
I started out the day skiing down outhouse trees. Too deep for the pitch, at least without reverse camber, but it was faceshots the whole way down, even though it seemed like I was going 5mph. Then I broke trail on the tophers traverse to the mushroom patch and ended up riding the challenger and skiing four or five laps there. Once I had to stop from dropping a cliff, because I caught a brief glimpse of another skier going into the landing. I headed to the park side and pretty much finished my day over there. Too much terrain to get to it all.

The snow was great, the people were happy. Everyone was your friend on the lift. Great day at wp.

And let reemphasize the winter park sucks. 16" makes anywhere good. Sorry again about the jerky video.

Powder snow skiing is not fun. It’s life, fully lived, life lived in a blaze of reality. What we experience in powder is the original human self, which lies deeply inside each of us, still undamaged in spite of what our present culture tries to do to us. Once experienced, this kind of living is recognized as the only way to live–fully aware of the earth and the sky and the gods and you, the mortal, playing among them. Dolores LaChapelle

No offense, but you are crazier than a shithouse rat.

Sorry that was uncalled for, even though it is hard to tell whether you are successfully skiing between tightly spaced trees or unsuccessfully committing suicide by tree.

Entertaining vid, and you ski twice as gooder than I does.

    Thumbs up

nice vid. that stoked memory lane for sure. had quite a few memorable time up there- back in the day (especially ducking into the trees off Frenchmans when supposed to be training bumps- only to join the group again 25 turns later as I snuck out of the trees with a giddy look on my face.)

I remember a storm that dropped 4 feet of snow in 2 days in mid-April. The Patch was going off - just lapping Challenger all day. I like how some of the shots off the railbender ridge (coupler, brakeman, etc) would hold such good snow so late in the day. Been a long time... many good days up there, followed by killer chocolate shakes at the Dairy King in Empire.

Too bad WP sucks so much, but it looks like you managed to enjoy the suckage. Nice vid.
