Bumpitty.
I've been listening to Atmosphere for the better part of 10 years, but haven't really listened to them for awhile. I stumbled upon the Felt stuff recently and it's definitely brought me back. I was a HUGE Atmosphere fan back in the day.
I could never say who is the best, but what I really like about Atmosphere is you can play them for almost anyone, and they'll find a song they like. I can appreciate the talent of a ton of rappers out there, but a lot of the songs I don't relate to at all since I grew up in the burbs and went to private school, and I've never been one to act like I'm some gangsta I'm not. I can relate to a ton of the Atmosphere stuff on the other hand, and they definitely make my personal top 5.

Been re-visiting Atmosphere's Strictly Leakage album the past few days and it just keeps getting better with age: sick beats, nice working man's rhymes, solid through and through.

Dug up my copy of When Life Gives You Lemons...Paint That Shit Gold.
Some lyrically deep and musically sound elements percolating through its entirety.
Slug drops a few tracks that have amazing "twist" endings, and the whole affair is rife with emotion, nice turns of phrase, and some great, simple, but no less engaging production.
Been digging the hell out of this track in particular:

Was also bumping Seven's Travels over the weekend whilst hiking/skiing and this is a repeat boomer, imho:
I think what I dig most about Sean Daly is his almost simplistic delivery, but he busts out with some really creative turns of phrase and his subject matter bounces between social commentary, self-deprecation, and non-gangsterism. Add to that some truly innovative production from Ant and it all adds up to something tres cool.
Murs is quite similar, in my book

I bought a ticket to their Sacramento show on 3/15/19 last week on my way home from the Bay Area (saved close to $10 in service charges swinging by the club box office, which was only about 15-minutes out of the way). The show sold out.
The bummer is that I just found out they are playing Reno the next night and that show is much closer to me (Sac is an hour-and-a-half drive and Reno is only about 35-minutes to downtown!).

Used to love Atmosphere, but stopped at When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold.
Turned into a weird combo of frat boy, white trash, and some cheesy love shit which brought in a bunch of ICP fans and such, and didn't he tour with some bands 'related' to them? He was good live when i saw him in Bozeman in 2003?, but all the frat boys pushing to the front there screaming his lyrics back at him was lame. Was very confusing to me.

Damn!
I hope that's not the case at the show I am attending.
I don't think I have seen them live since Seven's Travels.
I recall seeing them at a smedium-sized venue, Slim's, in San Francisco, but that was pre-Seven's Travels (I also interviewed Slug for XLR8R that same show in the alley behind the club). I may have seen them again for the Lemons tour, but it was part of SXSW (2003, as you mentioned, sounds about right...or maybe 2002 or 2004?).

I saw him in Seattle at the freshwater fly fishing tour. Was good. Brother Ali was there too which was a bonus.
