bump......
Bump for Spyder zip-off-sleeve jacket sighting this weekend. I couldn't tell if the sleeves were in the back sleeve pocket or not.
SpyderGraham, you're not alone.

The funniest thing about that situation to me was that I used to have a Phenix jacket in the racing days with zip off sleeves and I regularly stowed them in the back pocket (to ensure people were aware of the fact I was wearing a downhill suit). I thought it was uber cool. Then again it was 1996. I pray that jacket is still in a box somewhere, if so it is coming out this spring, hopefully I will slay some pow sleeveless, spydergraham style.

I know it's been a month, but I managed to misplace my memory card for a few weeks. Even though I took a lot of photos, lighting, my camera jongness, and the shitty stock lens meant that most of them aren't worthy of being posted here.
I just want to thank everyone for such a great time. It was pretty rad to be able to see Whistler from the view of those who don't live here.
Even though I wasn't in the camp I did learn a few things. 1. Maggots are a really cool group of people to hang around and 2. I really need to be in the camp next year.
On with the photos:
Our first ride up we tagged the Whistler Gondi, FKNA!
Whorehey getting some air in Harmony.
StuntCok slayin' it on the Brockers!
StroupSkier spots a line
And goes for it

The Brokers were being out sexy'd by those custom topsheets. If I had a topsheet like that, I'd run into things a lot.
Group photo, sans myself.

Wow, look at this video. Those custom topsheet scratches appear in the first few seconds. Either those are the same skis from GLC or there are others. Pretty funny vid as well.

The Whistler camp was more expensive last year - I think by $100 over the Utha camp, but I can't remember exactly. Given the lack of cheap housing up there and a higher cost of lift tickets and booze I woudl do the Utah camp if you are concerned about money.
Gordy gives mags a discount as well.Originally Posted by wintermittentOriginally Posted by snowsprite

Memmmmories..... such a great bump.
I think the whistler camp was $675.00 for mags.

Camp was $675 maggot price. I spent I think a total of $2,300ish for airfare return from Calgary (~$300), bus ticket from Vancity airport to Whistler and back ($120), 4 nights accoms at the camp condo (super pimp) ($600 I think), 5 days lift tickets (EDGE card) ($275), lots of food and lots of booze ($300 maybe). If you planned better than I did you could make it cheaper (e.g. cook food). Utah would be cheaper for sure but Whistler rules.

Money's been a real issue for me this year. I think I managed to do the camp almost as cheaply as possible, but a lot of it boiled down to luck and relying on the goodwill of others. Maggots are an amazingly generous and helpful bunch of folks.
Camp cost - $675 (partly offset by Christmas gift $).
Flight from Sacramento to Vancouver - $278 (could have used miles, but figured I'd save the miles and pay if I found something under $300, but cheap flights are a thing of the past with rising fuel and baggage costs).
Greyhound bus from Vancouver to Whistler - about $50 roundtrip (had a ride lined up but it fell through).
Lift tickets - $275 with 5 day EDGE card like Gramboh (was able to get away with that since I'm Canadian, even though I live in the US).
Lodging approx - $200 (due to being able to crash in condos for 2 nights, have my sister Spark pay for most of a condo another 2 nights as a gift, and stay chez maison GoNads for free 1 night).
Food and drinks - about $160 (breakfast was mostly cereal at the condos, lunch bought on this hill, one expensive dinner, and pitching in for food and drinks at the condo).
Total - approx $1640.
Awesome coaching, a fantastic time, and great memories to last a lifetime - priceless!

That's about the coolest camp I've seen. And Gordy and Eric? Can't get much more solid than those two.
They were two of my prime sources for a book that I wrote and was just published called The Edge of Never about the late Trevor Petersen and his son Kye. www.theedgeofnever.com
StroupSkier, your description of Pehota brushing off the ax and saying "rest in peace, buddy," brought a shiver. Nice work.
It's dumping in Little Cottonwood as I write this. Maybe a few turns in the am...
