washington trees
heading up to the seattle area for a few this week. first time up there. looks like its going to dump - stoked. but don't want to be skiing in whiteout.
They got all trees, but any opinions on pros /cons for better areas for storm skiing? Crystal, Baker, Alpental, etc..?

yes i suck.
i also ski in jeans and whine when its cold.
stevens has trees. - so do the other mountains. is the bark better at stevens than at crystal or baker or xtal? anything that tends to suck about skiing at the other places during a storm.

Alpy BC has pretty sick old growth trees with great pitch
inbounds- Breakover trees are one of my fave runs anywhere- kind of wish they would just go on and on and on...
Stevens trees are dope if you know where to go outside the ropes. Inbounds, Wildcatz & 7th Heaven chair offer some nice tree options.
Crystal has some great trees in northback so for inbounds storm skiing, crystal would be a good bet provided northway lift is running.
I'd stay away from Elevator gate right now at Alpy- but if the high T opens up- anything out that direction will be sick with another foot or two of fresh.
Sticky Wicket is probably Baker's best tree run. Best terrain at baker is more high alpine and OB. But Baker gets tracked out pretty quick inbounds so if you're looking for vert, better off at one of the others for trees.

Winds would be a factor at Crystal. The entire upper mountain gets shut down if its too windy.
Stood upon a mountaintop.
Walked barefoot in the Snow.

and when the entire upper mountain gets shut down there's almost nothing left to ski. Keep an eye on the wind forecasts at http://www.nwac.us/

nothing is really above treeline here. you're always in the trees. stevens and alpy rule above all else for backcountry rope ducking pow skiing. since it hasn't snowed for shit lately, go where it snows the most.
edit: if you're an in bounds expert (thank you ski magazine) try crystal. it's large and easy to navigate.god created man. winchester and baseball bats made them equal - evel kenievel
