next years JP Julien...help me maggots!

i am 5'7 and 125 lbs. i will be getting next years reverse camber/sidecut JP Julien, and I cant decide which size to get, 178 or 188. my specs:

-will be skiing pow as well as cliffs and BC booters on these.
    -will be mounting near center
-i normally would go for the 178, but i read on here that because of the reverse camber/sidecut they ski real short
    -they are really really light
-i am worried the 188 will be too long for spins off jumps, but hey tanner does it.
-they are the same length as the 185 ARG in this pic (and 185 would be fine)

    help me out guys, thanks!

188 for sure. Reverse camber/reverse sidecut skis are like snowblades to turn.

I think the most apt way to describe rockered skis (and it has been mentioned here before) is the feeling of standing just on top of a mogul, able to turn either way. I'm a bit bigger than you but no more than 150 lbs and I'm able to use 190+ skis with surprising ease. I'd really suggest the 188 unless you're a girl and don't plan on putting any more weight, or enjoy doing 1440's off of moguls.

Plus the 188's will have a greater resale value in case you decide to turn them around.

If you're mounting them close to center, I'd definitely go for the 188. You'll have a lot to land on and it won't seem like you have too much to turn.

185 is fine, but 188 is kinda, maybe too long?

does 1 inch really make that much difference. buy the 188s for sure...

What's the big hurry? Why don't you just demo some this spring? The Armada rep I know is getting them any day. You got all damn summer to think about it.

    Actually there isn't going to be a 188, it's a 185.
And if you put it against an ARG it's even slightly shorter....about 2 cm
Measured over the topsheet about 183.

    thrust me....

go for the 188 (which isn't)

    yeahh^ i just emailed armada

    Nick,

Thanks for dropping us an email. Like the Hellbent, or any other rockered ski, the 09 JP/Julien will ski shorter than its advertised length. Additionally, next year’s JJs will no longer be a 188 and 178; rather, they will be measured out at 185 and 175. If you are comfortable in the 182-185cm length I would recommend the JJ 185cm for you. One thing to keep in mind, especially when purchasing the JJ is that the 09 model has some major differences in rockered skis of the past. The two major differences lay in the fact that the JJ has a longer running surface and a much deeper sidecut under boot than other rocker skis on the market. Essentially you are getting the best of both worlds as the JJ combines a shorter ARV sidecut under boot, while incorporating an ARG rocker in the tip and tail. We are confident that the JJ will be the ultimate resort powder ski as it floats high in deep in snow and carves turns on groomers with absolute ease. Hopefully this helps you out, if you have any further questions please let me know. Thanks again.
