Anyone know how the radar is set up? Do they gather information from multiple stations or is there just one that covers a certain area? My area never reads anything, it's like i'm in a storm shadow or something on the map even when it's heavily precipitating. There's even a definite unnatural looking line on the cloud patterns sometimes like it's missing something.

Mountains often block the radar so it misses sections. They have multiple radars but still some areas dont have coverage.

Yep. Or the radars are poorly sited. See: http://cliffmass.blogspot.com/2016/0...rious.html?m=1

    This is so awesome
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I suppose it is just that the snow conditions change and so most posts are useless after a day or two. This was some fine work here though milton, deserves a sticky fo sho.

Joined TGR recently but have been viewing this thread for years.

I figured my first post would have to be a "Much Thank You" shout out to the original poster.

I've used this thread for multiple storm chasing trips over the years.

    Props indeed.

    Bump and "vote" for sticky!!!

I have become a fan of Windy Tv for big picture weather information. NOAA is solid. But Windy is mesmerizing
